We will never know how great he was in his prime because he avoided decent fighters, so much so that even Larry Merchant took the piss out of him after the Frazier fight and they allowed Steve Collins in the ring to to piss Jones off some more. What makes the Jones haters not credible is that they continue to ignore the facts and by doing so year after year when this topic resurfaces they grasp a kind of sincere delusion. The fact of the matter is they all avoided Jones as much as he can be blamed for avoiding them.
