Just like those other British referees from Hatton-Tszyu, Calzaghe-Manfredo, Foster was payed under the table with some side money..
Keep his facebook on tab from this point on.. IF he posts pictures of himself with hot bitches, u know he's spending that money..
I don't really think Groves was that hurt , he was just getting caught , that's boxing.
I think Groves could have easily recovered and fought on to win.
Rematch is all Froch can do to save face.
I dont need to check the rules, maybe you should watch this around 1.30 , the guys buckled , wobbled , all over the ropes but doesnt go down and gets a standing 8 then goes on to win the fight
Like i said ive seen the same in shitloads of fights over the years

Ever heard of a no-standing-8-count rule?
Never mind. New guy beat me to it.
Good post btw.

And as you can see from the video you posted the ref ruled it a knock down as the ropes had held him up. That is not a standing 8 count.
This does not change the fact that the fight was stopped to early, but also rules out completely as far as I am concerned the standing 8 count option. The referee did not have it at his disposal.
it varies by organization. for years- and i don't know if this is still true- all the boxing publications came out against the rule. boxing purists have always opposed the rule- if the guy is too stunned to take a knee, stop the fight. The argument is that is like sentencing a guy to 1000 lashes, then, when, after 623, you realize it is about to kill him, you stop it, let him recover, then lay on the other 377.
Lets just have a rematch.
