    duh because it affects oil/gas prices across europe which in turn has an affect on the US economy.

    no where is self sufficient.
    There's no military threat from Russia and the economic effects would be felt in Europe. Ant price increases in the US would be counteracted by higher US energy company profits.

    Gas is really cheap in the US currently due to shale gas production. They're actually starting to export gas and oil again. Russia cutting gas supplies to western Europe creates exports opportunities for US shale gas companies and higher prices mean bigger profits for US energy companies and Wall Street.

    The more integrated that the economys are the less likely it is that Russia will cut energy supplies to the west.
