Canelo's aggression should only be award points if it was effective and for most of the fight he was missing wildly. Landed 23% Total Punches 5% Jabs and 38% Power Punches to Laras 28% Total punches 22% Jabs and 37% Power Punches. Lara was more economical with his punches then Canelo was. Canelo landed more punches on Floyd then he did against Lara..

88 power punches to 52.
It's hard to hit a moving target but Canelo managed to land 73 body shots. It's difficult to land any hard shots while running away. I believe Canelo's punches were harder and more effective than Lara's. Evidence to support this can be found by the fact that Canelo never backed away from Lara and that Lara never moved forward suggesting Canelo was giving him a reason to stay away. He continued to chase him all night. Lara's punching never deterred Canelo, not even for a second.
I'll say it again, Chris Algeiri was effective with his punching and moving against Provodnikov. He out landed Provodnikov by 80 punches. Lara only landed 10 more punches than Canelo and ran away the whole fight. Note the difference.

lara threw like one 3 punch combo. all one two or just a jab and move. he was in a pro canelo crowd. he shouldve sat down and threw more. i think i saw 2 good 1-2 combos and thats it. he definitely had no killer instinct. he kept it close instead of dominating the smaller slower fighter. its his fault he lost
I get the distinct impression that Lara doesn't really care if people like him. He talks it and he fights like it. After the controversy and split he should be fully expected to dispute the verdict and call for action on it. He has all the chance of a snowball in a grease fire but he has to push the issue. On a side its been a long time since I've seen punch stats and percentage's trumped to bolster the winner-loser of a match than with this one.
there are way too many bad decisions in boxing today to push the issue with this one. i understand his loss to paul williams but not this one. you cant allow every single person who thought they were robbed protest the decision and actually make something of it. otherwise, protests would get out of control with 75% of fights being protested.
Against Martirosyan he was clearly coming into the fight. I had him ahead at the time the fight was stopped but a draw was fair. You could give it to Martirosyan but that would being very generous to him. Molina fight was scored a draw by most people including Teddy Atlas. You could argue for Molina but certainly not a gift for Lara.
In a word, yes!

Lara's pride was hurt? He out landed Canelo by ten? He threw a few three punch combinations? Canelo was probably not expecting a track meet. He was frustrated and missed a few hay makers. My point is that this was supposed to be what is rightly known as a prize fight. Lara may have landed but substance by Canelo won the fight. You have to show the judges that you want it A championship fight has small similarities to getting a high level job you have to convince the interviewer or judge that you worked for and deserve the position(the belt). Lara failed the interview.
