See your point but I'm serious. It was on the history channel. Soviet soldiers were interviewed and admitted bringing Hitler's remains to Russia. I think it was like a trophy to Stalin.
If Kirkland is right then it would have been only charred remains.
Oh yes, Kirk is right. It was well documented Hitler's people took him and his new bride outside, poured petrol on them and lit them up. It was only bones found at the Kremlin.
I'm a little surprised that the Germans acted just like their ally, the Japanese. To the Japs, ouch, it was dishonorable for them to get caught or their bodies taken by their enemies, an old samurai tradition they say. So that's why nobody could find the top Japanese general or his body in Iwo, and in Okinawa, where I originally came from, at the end of the last battle of WWII there the two top generals committed hara-kiri and had their lieutenants dispose their bodies and so their bodies were never found. There's are other historical connections between the two countries but that's another story...

(Btw, sorry about the inappropriate comment on the earlier post. I'm usually not that obnoxious but when I talk about someone like Hitler, I go overboard sometimes.)
True Pac, but I think the Japanese did it more as a cultural thing while the Nazis did it to avoid retribution.
Ya, reminded me of Kadhafi, once proud leader lynched by his own people...
    As was Saddam Hussain.
Ya, I remembered, another pathetic ending for another proud leader. Can't imagine that 'king' who used to live in a golden palace with deep underground bunker was caught living like a mole inside a small hole. All dictators should learn their lesson before they end up like those two.

I actually felt bad for kadafi. I think he was completely insane by the end. They got a hold of him and shot him in the street. I'm not saying he didn't deserve it but I would have liked to have seen the guy face trial. He did bring a lot of pain to a lot of innocent people, I certainly understand the outrage the people felt. He raped Libya like Obama is now sticking it too America.

Watched a documentary last night on fighter ace George Beurling who flew with the RAF and then defending Malta. Unbelievable pilot!

You must have AHC, I watched the same doc. Very well done. The new D day invasion series is also great. Also saw the Russians lost almost forty thousand men taking Berlin. Didn't know that

Don't ask a American about ww2. To them America won it by themselves. 7 out of 10 in the German army fought in the east. 8 0ut of 10 died on the east.

I wonder how many of them froze to death. I'm sure many of them were at least hampered by the freezing temp. in their fight there.

If it wasn't for that US aid the Brits would of gone out like the French
if it wasnt for the british and their empire millions more innocent people would have lost their lives and the US would probably be speaking German

Yes it was a combination of these things , being an Island helped , U.S. help and the Russian winter all aided the victory for allied forces.
Thank you to all those people who laid down their lives for us.
theres a lot more to it than the help from the US and the fact we are an island

the british war tactics were very good through out the war

we also made very good use of technologies, Radar for instance was massive, technology that the germans had as well but didnt realise the benefits

and dont forget at one point we werent just fighting germany, it was Britain and the resistance v virtually the whole of europe barring Russia

About the possibility of Americans losing, you all forgot that they had the nuke ahead of everyone else. Before America would lose, Berlin would have been blown to smithereens...

I thought the US stole all the best German scientists so were ahead of the space race and nuclear weapons.
