Yes to an extent. Some people get by due to their wealth, some people get by due to who they know, and some people are either lucky or unlucky. Some people who are wealthy are under more scrutiny when something bad happens around them....sometimes it depends on a news cycle or just who else as a celebrity or with wealth is willing and able to stand up and support or condemn the person in question.
Look at Matthew Broderick for example....in 1987 he and Ferris Bueller co-star Jennifer Grey were in a car wreck (Broderick was driving) which killed 2 people. They were first charged with "death by dangerous driving" and faced prison time (5 years) but then were later convicted of lesser charges and fined $175.00.
Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil had a similar accident
Halle Berry was in a hit and run and didn't really get nailed for anything. Brandy Norwood (the singer) killed someone and didn't get jail time. Donte Stallworth, Leonard Little, etc have killed people in driving accidents and not gone to jail.
Some people get off, some people don't....the justice system isn't perfect, but it's better than some other systems
