Williams was a dumb fighter. He didn't use his reach, he had poor defense, and he had a habit of lunging.
If Paul Williams had gotten trained by Manny Steward early on in his career he would have been damn near unbeatable. His height, his frame, his stamina, his chin (which was great but got used too often and he left himself open vs Martinez specifically because he trusted his chin too much), he had good hand speed, so-so power. At 147 who was going to beat him had he fought like Tommy Hearns?
