Foreign boxers have been robbed many times in the USA. It happens in most countries.

That being said, I can't think of a single fight where a foreign boxer was robbed in either Ukraine or Russia.
Read about what happened to Oquendo fighting Chagaev there a couple years ago. I can't think of a single more notable fight to ever take place in Russia at all, for that matter? Maybe that's for a reason.
errr wladimir v povetkin.... fight went to purse bid and povetkins team won so the fight happened in russia.... The russian "business men" certainly have the cash to win whatever purse bid they feel like

    LOL.

I guess that's possible but I just don't see Povetkin stepping aside like Golovkin has however the WBC is involved and they are as slippery as eels in a pail of snot. See Alvarez for a current example.
It was good to see Povetkin ringside. Up close and personal for Wilder. Thought all along a co main with another trinket warmer almost seems insurance policy. Wilder needs to forget about Fury now, same for Fury with Wlad up. I get not wanting to Russia but honestly a guy should be just as hesitant to go to Argentina or any site involving 3 Texas judges .

I struggle to see any other outcome if/when these 2 go head to head other than a dominant win for Povetkin. I think the Russian is just far too polished a fighter for Wilder and I'd be pretty confident of it ending in spectacular fashion and quite early too.

You know, the Ibf has kind of made a move on its own here. They don't seem keen on unification either. The WBC claims to not want their champ carrying another but that depends on who it is of course. Its as if all the governing bodies breathed a sigh of relief the moment Wlad was beat and the fragmentation began.

It pisses me right off too. The ONLY people benefiting from the fragmentation of the division is these governing bodies. For all the shite he spouts I loved it when Fury said he wanted the sanctioning fees back from the IBF...... And why the hell not? He'd just beaten the guy who'd held their title for a decade and then because he had to honour a rematch clause (which is a mandatory Klitschko clause) they strip him Fuck off IBF, any respect (not that I have much for any of them) I had for you has been destroyed lately.

I don't think having the fight in Russia is a problem. They've got serious indoor heating over there and judging is normally fine. Enzo didn't have a problem getting the decision over Roy Jones, did he?

Povetkin's promoter seems to be in the business for the publicity it gives him as I can't think of any other reason for him to have bid $23 million for Povetkin-Klitschko. If he bids that kind of money again Wilder is going to have to go and fight in Russia.

You don't go fight in Russia.

You go to Russia and have your belt taken under threat of bodily harm, kidnapping, murder, etc...

Wlad was paid an extortionate amount to defend his title against Povetkin. If that sort of money is offered Wilder will go.

Add to that the great possibility that classy fans in guerilla costumes show up and people start hucking bananas at the guy. Because that’s just what kind of tools they are. I think Povetkin goes to the States.

I wouldn't automatically blame that on bad or deliberately bad judging, you have seen Deontay fight. Right?

To be fair why would the champ go to the challengers backyard. That does not make since if you are the belt holder the other guy should come to your place and fight it out. Worse comes to worse just go to vegas because that is a pretty neutral place to go and it is fight capital.

How many more fights does he need in America?

Hes supposed to be a WORLD champion, not an American champion. Too many Americans never venture outside of America its sad really. Ali did it, travelled the world and fought.

Bit of a liberty to stereotype the Russians as a bunch of corrupt racists.

I didn't see anyone chucking bananas at Roy Jones the other month. And considering a Russian oligarch paid $23 million to get Wlad to Russia, surely that would've been a good time to rob him there and then. They didn't.

I didn't stereotype at all. S stereotype is based on false accusation. I said the possibility exists just like it does when our black NHL players go there to play. It happens all the time and to be blunt they are fucking racists whether they lay on Roys sack or not.
