In hindsight Martin sure, I would have thought Browne as well but he did look quite improved in his last fight against Chagaev, maybe that's thanks to some "supplements". I'd love to see Briggs beat Wilder but I think more than likely he'd get hurt bad even if it was an early shoot out type of fight. Briggs truly hasn't fought a half decent opponent since Vitali and even before that, Liakovich is more or less the one good win in his career I like the guy and he's physically gifted for sure, but it's hard to know whether he's even all that dangerous nowadays.

The problem I have with people writing Briggs off is that he hasn't ever shown a massive decline in skill.
He lost his last big fight to Vitali with an injured shoulder and stayed the distance.

He has a punch, a chin and a heart.

His record in the last 15 years is 24(23)-2-0 with 1 NC

I agree some stay busy fights in there but we are assuming he hasn't got it because he hasn't been in with a name in a while.

    Let's remember
    1. He is the most decorated active HW.
    2. He has probably the best chin in the current HW div.
    3. He is up there are one of the hardest punchers in the HW division.

Why does he not have a chance?

    Remember Foreman?

How is he the most decorated active HW? If you take the actual performances, his title wins aren't terribly impressive. Aside from those 2, ALL of his wins are stay busy type of opponents. Again I like him and would really want to see him win if he gets a big fight, just being realistic I'm not sure he'll have the output to do it.

PAG silver medalist (silver or bronze can't remember).
2 time world champion in a much better era.

He's cut from a different era and I think that'll work for him with people like Browne and some of the other shitty contenders today.

Holes in that though, as he easily could have lost to ancient Foreman and didn't do any better against him than Axel Schulz of all people just had prior, then the fight with Liakovich was dreadful until the very end and wasn't in that era or a better one. Shame Browne was taking PEDs or is a moron though, I think that was an interesting and even fight that would have told us where Briggs stands. The current landscape is actually as good as it's been in many years imo, fights just aren't being made.

I feel it has improved but I feel that the fighters are all beatable with one punch.

Not too many Solid chins in there and I feel Briggs can make an impact.

Hard to talk about fighters records and stuff as all fighters pad their record to get to world title fights. Foreman didn't have too many names in his first 38 fights leading up to Fraizer.

Peralta, Chavulo, Johnson about the only ones.

I just wanna see Briggs against a Wilder, Haye, Browne or Ortiz because I think he can put in a decent showing.

Briggs is nothing but a name at this point. He chatted with me on FB before, so simply because of his kindness I'm rooting for him, but I just don't see much an opportunity for him at his age outside of puncher's luck.

Briggs has got a title shot somehow and I am sure he will give it his best shot but even at his best he was not that good. AJ would eat him alive.

I like Briggs, but Joshua is already better than he ever was.
