Quartey had the better jab but Cotto's is nice, not to be underestimated at all. That and Ike was always a bit open for left hooks. I'd go with Cotto there. The others are tough ones. I think he could beat Lopez but he'd probably have to get off the mat and if anybody was getting stopped its probably Cotto.

Sorry but to compare Cotto's jab to Quartey's jab is just plain silly. Quartey had one of the best jabs of all time, the snap and speed of the punch was a thing of beauty. And the sound of it was menacing similar to Larry Holmes jab.

I wouldn't say Cotto could beat any of those guys as yet BUT,SSM has always had problems with a jab. Vernon showed it. Winky showed it and Cotto showed it. He would have had much faster handspeed sure, but I think Cotto would still land that jab.Not saying he would win but the jab would cause problems to SSM and to Oscar.Neither has ever been great at handling jabs.
I agree with Ouma,he COULD beat Lopez but more likely would end up getting stopped himself. I think it's a tad too early to put Cotto in with those monsters. I'd like to add that the Tito KO and the Pernell UD are DEAD CERTS and Pernell beats everyone on that list.![]()
I agree with pretty much everything you said good posting, but even though Mosley has had trouble with jabs in the past. I still think the 2000 version would beat Cotto at the moment, as for Lopez that man was a damn animal with one of the best chins i've ever seen, really can't see Cotto beating iron chinned Lopez in a toe to toe battle. As for Pernell i totally agree mate Whitaker is one of my all time favorites.
It was a close fight but the rounds wern't really that hard to score IMO, Quartey busted ODLH up with the jab but i will give credit to ODLH. He come out for the 12th knowing he needed to do something dramatic and he did. Even though i thought Quartey won i had no problem with ODLH winning that fight based on his last round effort. Although the scoring was way off, if i remember right one judge had it so wide for ODLH that he didn't even need to score a KD in the last round that was a disgrace IMO. I think its pretty much impossible to have ODLH ahead in that right after 11 rounds without seriously biased scoring.
I think Cotto could beat Ike and Lopez, they were good fighters but not great like the others.
Cotto wouldnt even beat TODAYS welters.
Margarito and Cintron would KO him
Mayweather and even Paul Williams would outbox him.
the guys over-rated.
who has he beaten
Judah.....a guy that always finds a way to lose...HE GAVE HIM HELL
Mosleyan old lightweight.......... RAN HIM MIGHTY CLOSE
and people think Mayweather is afraid of him !!!!!!!![]()

They didn't achieve greatness but they were still both very good fighters, Quartey had an amazing jab and excellent power. And Lopez was an excellent brawler with an iron chin. I don't believe Lopez ever tasted the canvas, right now i can see both of them beating Cotto clearly IMO.
He'll be competitive. But his chance of succeeding is 50/50,... which means all his fight with them 90's elites would be blockbusters.
