Well I will say after this war ends then our technology will once again spike up and our economy will boom like never before. War is the best thing for a floundering economy....think about the government grants for research and development of anything used in war: communication devices, computers, engines, etc.

After the war is done and when there is a little more political stability, when we understand where the new Pres (whomever it may be) is taking us, we're going to have the market come back up and the dollar will come back in value and everything will be right with the world.

The last couple of Presidents inherited recessions or stagnant economies.
The US isn't leaving Iraq for decades unless the Iraqis boot you out. Still many trillions to be spent there by America to keep Iran in power in Baghdad.

In what ways will technology spike and the economy improve if the US were forced out of Iraq?

Actually, I thought it was in times of war technology was vastly improved... Or at least it was supposed to be.

US technology is being defeated by a bunch of Iraqis armed with garage door openers.

Well Kirkland if we could get some funding passed and get people actually moving toward truly ENDING the war then we wouldn't have so much trouble but when people grandstand (on both sides but on one side it's totally against anything to do in Iraq....that's the Democrats) it's bad for the actual soldiers there on the ground. The one guy that I KNOW cares about soldiers is John McCain, he was one, he knows what it's like, and he's been to Iraq plenty of times and wants to fill the void we have left in Iraq with a friendly government and yeah we're going to have to keep tabs on them for quite some time but it's worth it to not have to do it again.

The winning of the war has already been done, it's over, we took over 2 countries and destroyed their political infrastructure in a matter of weeks....it was the greatest military victory in the history of man......now the following rebuilding process is perhaps the worst ever in the history of man but that can be turned around as we have seen more recently.

We just have to realize that us leaving Iraq and Afghanistan in total anarchy is going to be less safe for everyone.

As far as Iraq and Afghanistan are concerned, Bush invaded Iraq and then was forced by an Iranian Ayatollah to hold elections that allowed Iranian Islamic fundamentalists to take power and now the US army is fighting and dying and the US economy is breaking to keep those guys in power, while the Ayatollahs are all high-fiving each other. There'll be nothing but anarchy in Iraq till we leave.

McCain wants to keep dying in Iraq to keep the bases America has there, but the Iranian Ayatollah looks like he's going to kick America out of Iraq altogether soon. The "rebuilding" process isn't happening at all. Iraq's government won't spend a penny of its own money, the reconstruction funds are all American, and they're being robbed by the Iraqi government.

In Afghanistan the leader wants to negotiate a treaty with the Taliban because there's no way he can defeat them.

Both wars are strategic disasters for Bush and America.

Kirkland your sunny disposition is always wonderful.

Yeah McCain just wants a whole bunch of people to die that should be his campaign slogan....and if Obama is elected then it will be heaven on Earth.

4,000+ troops have died...OVER 6 years....that's not bad at all compared to past wars.....it's not all that bad compared to Camden, NJ for fucks sake!!!!

It isn't a war, it's an occupation, and it's fairly average death rate for an occupation. The total serious casualty list including severe brain trauma injuries (all those people being blown up and having their brains rattled by roadside bombs) is now around 85000 and the associated healthcare costs for them is in the trillions. But now that their head Ayatollah seems poised to order you out of the country maybe the US eternal war faction represented by McBush will behave themselves for a while.
