Carl Thopson took everything Haye could throw at him when he was 40.

Chris Eubank, a former middle weight dropped Thompson and held back, he was also outboxing him and ahead on points before the ref pulled him out because of a swollen eye in the 10th of their rematch.

I agree that their will be times when Haye can't floor his opponent but he has developed since that Thompon fight

Haye is a much better and powerful puncher now.

And im not sure Thompson actually took a flush shot he rolled and blocked.

Time will tell that im right.

I don't hate Haye. I am just sick of this guy being built up like he will knock a building down with one punch.

Seen as Haye porbably has the hardest P4P punch people will talk about it. As for being able to knock a building down... no, but no-one takes a flush Haymaker no-one.

Exactly. Wlad has sparked heavyweights and made it look easy. The cruiserweight division is water thin when compared to the heavies, but apparently Haye has descended from the heavens to deliver us all. Compare Wlad's best opponent against Haye's and reconcile how Haye is the savior of anything in a weight class he's fought in exactly once. Wlad takes shite because he makes it look easy; Haye gets credit for being a natural heavy who sweated down to cruiser to pick off an even easier division.

IMO it's stamina rather than the loss of speed will be the problem. Carry more muscle and you won't last as long. The problem will start when an opponent takes his single shots fluch and doesn't blink, he might be able to outbox the cumbersome guys for a few rounds but they'll catch up to him.

I'm not getting carried away with Haye -he's got liabilities- but I think he toys with Rahman now, did anybody see Rahman last time, he had absolutely no snap to his punches, not crisp at all, he was just pushing them out there. He looks done.

Put me in the school of thought that Haye needs at all costs to keep his speed, hopefully he's not falling in love with the bodybuilding, to say that he comes off as a vain guy is a bit of an understatement.

Well said...People tend to forget that a punch from a bonafied HW fighter (225-240lbs)...That can crack just a bit is one hell of a thing to absorb.....The whole with speed comes power theory has its limits.....

It is not that speed makes you hit harder it is the fact that you can not prepare for what you can not see coming.....Making the punch that you don't see having a higher effect...With that being said....

At HW you need to have HW power to keep that theory intact....

A shot from a guy who weighs 240lbs at full force will rock you a hell of a lot harder then a guy who is 195-200lbs normally....

Also Haye (And his followers) need to remember that Haye has never felt REAL: HW power and Wlad certainly has REAL HW power.....

Manny will make a game plan suited for Haye if it ever happens...All Wlad has to do is follow it....Wlad is his own worst enemy at times because he anticipates punches or gets punch shy a bit.....That is a no no....But if Wlad does not think he has anything to fear from Hayes shots then he will stand up and fight him...I don't care how much the "Hayemaker" is primed to land if he stands in front of Wlad for one exchange he will find out why he was the cruiserweight chamiopn and not the HW champ in the first place.....

After he wins the belt who does he have to face?.....Are we going to pretend he can stand up to the power of Peter, McCline, even the aging slow punching David Tua would spark him if he lands......

Haye is no Evander Holyfield....He is not the next great HW

Edwin Valero may argue that point.

Agreed...I also think P4P Pacquiao is a more dangerous puncher.....

People tend to forget the names on Hayes KO resume are no world beaters...and those most know are wayy past best...His biggest wins are Mormeck and Enzo....Who the F*** has Enzo ever beaten to be considered anything other then just another fighter....

It may just be me but Haye has done little to impress me so far other then a few decent performances and a KO list of local bar drunks

Credit where credit is due, he did everything he needed to in the CW division, he does make for entertaining fights, but anyone saying he has done anything at HW is certainly showing their fanboyism. At HW he is an unknown quantity. Haye needs to fight Arreola, or someone of that level.

Arreola is rated #7 by the IBF and #4 by the WBO which are the two straps that Wladdy holds. Arreola also holds the #10 spot on the ring list.

Thats a nice 6 pack Haye has on his gut, but does he possess the same six pack in his chin? Which is what was said about Vargas.

Once we find that out, whether he is the savior of heavyweights will be answered

I don't think he is, he could beat some heavyweights maybe but not Wlad.
