I wouldn't say i do the diet but I try to be aware of how much I'm burning and especially at times when i can't train as much as I would like to I find it easier to cut down on carbs than on protein because high protein foods are so much more filling.

I have body fat % scales and I find if I gain weight my body fat percentage doesn't go up much but my muscle mass does. Perhaps I don't usually get enough protein or recover properly when I'm in full training!

Also if I'm making weight for a competition the first thing I'll cut out is complex carbs from pasta and bread but I'll keep eating tuna and having protein supplements until fairly close to the weigh in.
