Griffin gave Jones problems for all those reasons you mention. Calzaghe could do the same because he is much much much better than Griffin. Its not a complicated train of thought.

Its like me saying because Robin Reid almost beat Joe Calzaghe. That RJJ would easily beat Joe Calzaghe based on that, but thats not the case because its totally different styles.
Isnt that what people are doing? Jones would beat Calzaghe easily because he beat A + B + C

    Calzaghe is not A B or C.
So Joe Calzaghe is short and gets under punches does he ? he is nothing like Montel Griffin at all.

Secondly i think RJJ beats Joe Calzaghe, because he is faster, stronger ETC. Joe Calzaghe is open for straight hands, and RJJ has the best straight right hand lead in the business.

How would Joe Calzaghe deal with the slickness and speed of RJJ ?

When did I say he was?

Read carefully this time. If Montell Griffen COULD give RJJ a hard time and compete with him (just like the thread starter asked) Then in my opinion Joe Calzaghe COULD give RJJ a hard time and compete with him (just like the thread starter asked) on tha basis that Joe Calzaghe is a much much better fighter than Montell Griffin, not similar in stature or style, just much much better.

I swear you repy out of obligation some times.

You said Joe Calzaghe would give RJJ problems on all the reason's i said, which is implying he is similar to Montel Griffin is it not ?

I don't think your making some of your opinions clear enough, thats all nothing to do with replying out of obligation, what you said above was crystal clear no problems with that.

But if we are using that logic Memphis then we could say, RJJ is a much better fighter than Robin Reid so why couldn't he beat Joe Calzaghe comfortably ?

Its just styles make fights Junior Jones wasn't as good as Erik Morales, infact he lost to Erik Morales. But he still beat MAB x2 where as MAB clearly beat Erik Morales 2 out of 1.

Just like Ken Norton wasn't as good as quite alot of the top Heavyweights, Muhammad Ali fought. But he still gave Muhammad Ali the most trouble.

Robin Reid come forward and roughed up Joe Calzaghe on the inside, which is one of Joe Calzaghe's weaknesses. Which showed against Kabary Salem, Sakio Bika.

Montel Griffin was as awkward as RJJ and he constantly went low and got underneath punches. RJJ underestimated how awkward Montel Griffin was, but in the rematch when he was motivated and fired up, he made Montel Griffin look like he shouldn't even be in the same town as him, let alone the same ring.

Im sorry but when did I imply that Calzaghe and Griffin were the same in any way?

He might, Im not denying that am I? I was quite clear, Jones would probably win BUT I think that Calzaghe COULD be competitive.

This part below Memphis is what i thought you was implying.

"Griffin gave Jones problems for all those reasons you mention. Calzaghe could do the same"

Secondly Memphis i never said RJJ would blow Joe Calzaghe away, i think Joe Calzaghe would win a few rounds. But he would still be outclassed over 12 rounds by atleast 117-111, 116-112, round about that margin.

.................because he is a much much better fighter. If I thought he would trouble Jones in an identicle manner to Griffin I would have written that.

I don't think Jones will this one. I feel another Tarver III coming on. Alot of razzle-dazzle but no fighting.

Calzaghe could compete with anyone in any era and make it a competitive fight to a limit though with Jones

Montell Griffin is a totally different type of a fighter then Joe Calzaghe.

I am sure most would agree in scheme of things James Toney was a better fighter then Montell Griffin, but he actually lost to Griffin twice and lost to Roy JOnes by a much larger margin(except Jones-Griffin II which peple seem to forget). Even young Bernard who still was likely better then Montell Griffin at that point in his career did worse against a 23 year old Roy with a broken hand.

    Styles make fights.
Hopkins beat the shit out of Pavlik who beat Taylor twice who matched up pretty evenly with Hopkins twice.
