N'DIZI
These are not basic foodstuffs

Ami right in thinking, with the aid of google of course, that the first is fish in coconut sauce, and the second is essentially a type of banana. The first certainly sounds nice, i don't think i'd push it away, but the n'dizi sounds more like the staple food of this pair.
To digress a little, when I was in lowland nepal 500-1500m it was a very tropical country, and most of the people were subsistence farmers who'd work most of the year to feed the families, and some would exclusively grow bananas, or oranges, and the diversity in their diet would come from bartering these for what farmers in the area would grow. It wouldn't surprise me then if these N'dizi were only grown by some farmers, and bartered in a similar way, so that a whole community would get some fruit, whilst most of them farmed the more usual crops.
I'm not sure about your boy TM, but I think it's got us lot thinking about the food of Kenya for sure.

Hey TM, it's good that your kid is a little genius and all, but there are one or two issues besides ensuring that your kid gets enough mental stimulation and challenge.
IMO one area where schools tend to fail is in the area of developing good work habits, organizational skills, multitasking etc, skills that are pretty important in a professional career. It's not at all easy to teach that stuff. I also pretty much breezed through school without lots of effort. I took tough courses and did well. But I never did develop really good work habits, organizational skills, etc, because I could get by without them. Project management skills? Who me?
A kid who maybe has average smarts who really has to work hard at things maybe has an advantage in this regards. Just a thought.
Being smart at school, getting lots of mental stimulation, does not necessarily equate with good life or career skills.

How can you not like peasYeah I'm just doing the basic mash for now, I think I might roll them in bread crumbs and bake them after the mash. Curious to see the final texture, I figure it will probably be a lot thicker than regular mashed potatoes. Probably add some Yve's sausage crumbles too.
