When was the last time you heard of a Filipino being under the spotlight as much as Pacquiao or achieve nearly as much? For other countries is normal to have not only one but MANY boxers in different weight divisions as champions and Hall of Famers. Think about Mexico, Puerto Rico, USA, England, etc. So let them be. It may last maybe 2 or 3 more years while Pac is fighting because after that, maybe other Filipino boxers will follow, which is good! More competition to the sport or maybe things will go back to how they were with no asian in the boxing spotlight for many years to come.

Think about this, let's say that Bangladesh beat Brazil in the World Cup and suddenly became competitive and dominate the sport, wouldn't Bangladesh have a lot to brag about, be proud, etc.? Well, think Pac now. Saddoboxer and hardcore PacFanBoys deserves to enjoy this ride while it lasts . I just shake my head slowly and smile when I see threads like this .

I am glad we have Pac in the sport. He brings excitement, big fights, and all the good stuff. A nice likeable humble guy.
Presently Philippines has 3 boxing champs... Last year there's a time when it has 5 champs at the same time... Many years ago there's a time when it has more than 6 champs at one time...

Currently Filipinos focused more on Pacquiao coz he's so big, so popular... In fact, I think he's the most popular active boxer right now all over the world...
    Ofcourse Chino didnt know that.
So there are only 3 champs up there and MANY years ago there were more than one, etc. Can we say the Philipines are a major country in the history of boxing? As much as Mexico, Puerto Rico, USA, England, etc.?

Is Pac popular? You bet! Does he deserve to be popular? Of course! Is he good? He's GREAT! But let's see if the Philipines is still a country to talk about in boxing after Pac is retired. That's my point.

Like I said, I am glad Pac is around. How boring would boxing be if we didn't have exciting boxers around like him. Imagine if people thought boxing would get boring after having Duran, Hearns, Leonard, Barkley, Hagler, Camacho, Norris, Tyson, Chavez, and many more in the same generation. Boxing is quite exciting even now, we also have lots of names in this generation .

I consider the Philippines as a known player in boxing history (Pancho Villa, Flash Elorde, Ceferino Garcia, Luisito Espinosa, etc.)... You belittle the Philippines and mentioned England... Right now England (UK) has only one legit champ in Carl Froch...
