I think its one of the best things that has happened for the republican party. They need to move on and away from this one. That 15 minutes has run its course.

    Competition for Sarah Palin :

Arizona Republican State Senator Sylvia Allen argues in favor of uranium mining on state land because our planet has managed to last 6000 years without any environmental laws, and look, we’re just fine.
I can’t say enough how it’s time that we get beyond, and, and start focusing on the technology we have, and move forward into the future so that our grandchildren and, can have the same lifestyle we have, and, and, this earth’s been here 6,000 years and I know I’m goin’ on and on and I’ll shut up ... It’s been here 6,000 years, long before anybody had environmental laws, and somehow it hasn’t been done away with.
    Youtube Video

I haven't watched the video but if she's attractive she could run for president.

EDIT: Watched the video, she's unelectable too.

It was a good move for Alaska, that's what she retired from. We'll find out soon enough what her ambitions are. I kind of think she won't get too far. The "king makers" within the party surely have realized their mistake and won't make it again.

p.s. LOL Kirkland, yeah she's a knock off for Palin, isn't she? I particularly liked the part about "we've lasted for 6,000 years, so we must be doing something right"

She'll make a lot of money doing speeches and books and end up on Fox News. Then appearance by appearance they'll gradually mould her slightly differently and gradually educate her on the issues and how to deal with them, turn her into somebody who appears to have a grasp of the fundamentals and then she'll run in 2016. Or she'll be completely untrainable and she'll gradually fade away.

I was thinking that last night.Joining a network, namely Fox.I dont think that she is the sharpest knife in the drawer but is effective on camera in small doses and does ok when rehearsed with an audience.A talk show?

As far as a national stage and politics.I think she is finished. She let the marketing and packaging get in front of her substance and was force fed to the public. If the heat in Alaska was too much...she melts on a national stage again.I think she's a trivia question or a punchline now.

They'll definitely give her the opportunity though. One in three voters near enough will definitely vote for her. If they can graft a bit of substance, a bit of gravitas onto the you betcha she could change people's perceptions of her, win a few independents and centrist voters. They did the same thing with Nixon when he originally quit in the sixties and he managed to win. She's actually very similar to Nixon but without the smarts, they both use resentment as their main issue. And the guy who masterminded Nixon's return from obscurity currently runs Fox News.

meh, irrelevant. One in three voters would vote for anybody over a Democrat, another one in three would vote for anybody over a Republican. But the middle one in three would never vote for her. So I have to agree with Spicoli. They won't give her another chance at VP, let alone president.

One in three voters would run through a brick wall for her. The people who win elections are the volunteers, the people who do phone banking, door-to-door canvassing, driving old/incapacitated people to the polling stations on election day. The GOP depends on getting social conservatives to do these jobs for them. the GOP is a very right wing party dedicated to serve the interests of corporations and plutocrats (although the Democrats are fairly indistinguishable these days) and its policies historically are worse for the majority of people than those of the Democrats, the average American doing much better financially under Democratic presidents than Republicans. For the GOP to get enough people to vote against their economic interests to win elections they need to appeal to certain cultural groups, especially social conservatives and Christians. Somebody like John McCain isn't acceptable to the conservative base, the people who volunteer and phone bank for the GOP at elections, who potentially can turn out in enormous numbers but don't because they never get what they're promised. They see Sarah Palin as one of them and guarantee her a fanatical truly formidable election machine should she run. If the GOP chiefs can graft a bit of substance onto her, change peoples' perceptions of her, they make her an almost unbeatable opponent for any Democrat. They can easily do that by 2016 if she's capable of slowly changing. They'll definitely give her every opportunity.

Kirk I think this one might be some what more legit

I have relegated myself that outside of strict libertarians no one is going to drastically reduce the size of federal gov't. I'll take the guy that at least wants a not as big government. The scary part is that with President Obama and a democratically controlled congress/senate on course for some unprecedented federal growth; there is no going back. It almost never gets smaller. Strangely enough, and I can't source this, I am pretty sure I've read the last time our Federal Gov't actually got smaller was under Clinton.
Most bad government has grown out of too much government. Thomas Jefferson

Ive said it before and its come back to smack me in the face but I really think we as voters will do better than the ever present reality shows we have seen labeled as campaigns. We must....we are too easily led around by the leash and stand high on labels and hardened party lines.Ive voted on either side and down the middle but off the top I dont think she could hold a candle to Nixon.....closest relation may have been their 'wtf' moments on camera but prior to that he had 7,8 years of VP under him.Shes minor league.

Someone seriously needs to take the shovel out of her hands...at the rate she is going I'm betting she finds oil.I have nothing against her and am not promoting either party, but should the republicans go this route again...I honestly think that they will continue to sit on the sidelines come the next election.......side note bud. Those huge articles are a b!!!ch.Have to scroll the entire page

Yes, thank you Kirkland for making this thread unbareable to post in.

Also your xenophobia towards anyone with a political view right of Karl Marx is really annoying...ok, we get it you don't like Capitalism, so I'll be a good sport about it, you will give Saddo half of your total wealth and he will in turn distribute that out to the rest of the posters here. I'll get to work on setting up a bread line for you too, you're going to need it.

I agree she's nowhere near up to the job but they've got six years to rebrand her. It's not like there are a vast number of potential GOP presidential candidates out there so they'll work with anything they can get. I would guess her future involves lots of well-paid speeches, a few books, plenty of fundraising for GOP candidates and Fox News though rather than the White House.
