the thing is are they contractually tied to finish this, say Taylor gets knocked out the first two fights (granted I doubt Ward knocks him out) are they gonna push him out the locker room door and wheel him up to the ring for the third fight knowing the whole things hopeless?
I would assume they would have to have these guys tied in to finish it. Of course they could break it, feign an injury or really be injured.
Another thing, where would this leave fighers like Bute and Andrade? Bute is arguably the best SMW around, should he beat Andrade there will (hopefully) be a good deal of public support for his inclusion in this tournament at some point. I'd hate to see him sit around fighting the same level of competition he has been (bar Andrade) while the tournament going on.
I kind of answered in the response to CFH, it would have to take a few years at least really, 3 fights were talking over a year at least, then two more fights for the semifinalists (or I guess at least the two semifinalist winners) which is a year, maybe a little less at best knowing fighters schedules these days.
So 5 fights for the winner and runner up, at least two years for them.
on boxingscene there were some reports that Bute's people turned it down due to the round robin but Bute's manager went on there to say he'd never been offered and complained about JT, Ward, Dirrell being in it.
