He isn't a real welterweight, and he's counter puncher who doesn't fight the type of fight that is dictated with size and strength.
I disagree with you on that point. Out of the three, without knowing the outcomes of the ODLH and Hatton fights, I would give ODLH the best chance of beating PBF. His size and the fact that the fight was at 154 are what influence my opinion most. When all is said and done, I believe his split decision loss to PBF as opposed to Hatton's knockout (and Marquez's knockout imo) will be the closest fight with Floyd and will validate that opinion.

Weight will be a big factor although not in the way you are describing. In terms of size, Floyd is an average welterweight - there is a reason he has fought at that weight the last three years. However, that isn't why size will play the role. Size will play a role because Marquez isn't a welterweight or a junior welterweight. At his biggest, I believe him to be a big lightweight. Recall that Juan Diaz buzzed him a couple of times and he isn't known as a big punching lightweight (less than 50% knockout percentage). I believe Floyd chose Marquez as an opponent when there were better welterweight opponents out there with bigger names because he wanted a fighter he could impose his size and strength to create a knockout. He could have fought Cotto and he could have fought Shane. Both would have much bigger fights than Marquez, but he wouldn't have knocked out either of those fighters. In those fights, Floyd would probably fight his usual counter-punching style (what sense would it make to stand toe-to-toe with Shane?), but with Marquez he can afford to fight a "rougher" fight, which will do more for him in negotiations with Pacquiao if Pacquiao wins his upcoming fight.
Mayweather has foughten at welterweight and higher because he was chasing De La Hoya and titles in different weight classes, there is no other reason. Had he wanted to FLoyd could still be a lightweight. People have talked about him having a hard time making 130 and 135, but Mayweather was already lifting weights and increasing his size to move up.

I honestly saw Hatton as a bigger challenge than Oscar for Mayweather because Oscar didn't look super fast against Mayorga, he looked good, but not very fast. I also thought Mayweather would have used his speed more, but he stood right there a lot more against Oscar, he could have made it an easy night, but I honestly think he was trying to knock Oscar out.
He may have moved up to chase ODLH, but he has since decided it is his natural weight. It makes sense. Mayweather could have fought Marquez at 140 or 135 if he had wanted. He also could have fought Hatton at 140 because Hatton's natural weight was 140. In the case of Marquez, Marquez has never fought above 135. Instead, Mayweather chose to fight him around 147. It isn't random. There is a reason for it.

It's not as disgusting as watching that suck up leonard ellerby and knowing that probably 5 years down the road he's gonna be caught laundering and stealing 20 million dollars from Floyd's accounts. Something about that guy screams bankruptcy.

Agreed. Question fellas: what is the best way to record boxing fights from my digital cable to a dvd? I want to start creating a fight collection.

apparently not when he helps hold the record for most PPV buys, DLH didn't do it alone, other DLH fights that were already expected to have lots more entertainment value didn't sell as much as that fight
I never said that Floyd didn't bring some of the numbers in, I know he has his fans, but the truth is, before he fought Oscar or Hatton, his highest ppv number was 374,000 against Zab Judah. He did 365,000 against Gatti, and 325,000 against Baldomir, so yeah he can claim that he's part of the ppv record, but it was mostly Oscar's doing.
I think that number is relative and runs in conjunction with exposure.. The more people he beats on the world stage the more people will tune in for future fights... I doubt anyone will touch the numbers of Tyson and Oscar

And on that, it is Gatti who did drag all the assistance as Gatti was one of the most charismatic fighter and interestingly enough, one of those who did the biggest amount of headlines for HBO.

There is no way this fight will break 600k and I doubt it will break 500k.

i say it has to do evenly with both, Oscar just being The Golden Boy and Mayweather knowing how to sell a fight
Well we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Because, I say no way in hell was Mayweather responsible for bringing in 50% of the ppv buys for his fight against Oscar.

Mayweather obviously doesn't have the draw of OScar or Tyson, but he did give Oscar his biggest PPV sales, and not just OScar but he gave the sport its biggest PPV sales. Oscar alone didn't do that, He definitely was the bigger reason why people tuned in, but Floyd was the opponent that made that many people willing to shell out 50$ to watch it.

classic good guy vs bad guy..... it may be basic stuff but it sure sells. That's why Mayweather departing from the bad guy role in this fight is a mistake.

I doubt it plans on really making those numbers, but when it's all over, it can distract the general public by noting that they made bigger numbers than Top Rank's Pacquiao / Cotto event (if that actually happens). I think they believe they can do better than Top Rank, at least.

Edit: And make no mistake, it was Mayweather's antics playing the villain that pushed the PPVs to the limit with everybody wanting to see if he was either going to come through and win or get shut up and lose. Everybody else just had to go along as the silent heroes.

Quite the opposite, its the WAY he beats people (as well as who) on the world stage that make the casual fan(the fans who generate the huge PPV numbers) not want to watch him much less pay $50+ dollars to do it. Hes had plenty of chances to entertain fans inside the ring but instead chooses to pick on fighters he can dance around and get the decision.
