The same arguments you're using work both ways and it's very flawed. Pac beat Marquez twice in two close fights, Floyd outclassed and shut out JMM (dare I say a less than prime JMM who was shop-worn from his fights with Pac, Casa, and Diaz); Floyd won a close-ish SD over ODH, Pacquiao destroyed him in a fight that might have even been less competitive than PBF - Marquez. None of that means anything really. The fact is, for the last two or three years, Pacquiao has accomplished far more than Mayweather, as such I would argue that he deserves to be ranked ahead of Floyd in any mythical P4P rankings as a result of that. Nothing you can say will change my mind.
Fair enough but dont suggest I'm foolish because you dont share the same opinion I have.. Nothing you can say will change my mind either
Where did I say you were foolish? I merely agreed with Missy (which pains me more than you will ever know) who said that this didn't mean that PBF should be considered P4P #1.

P4P is pure mythical crap, come on. Lets have Floyd as a good old, lineal Welterweight champ. That means he needs to beat Cotto, Mosely and Berto, end of........ PBF would starch PAC, let get back to some real competetive fights for the lad shall we...... If he's so great like he spouts off to be, he'd fight a fair competetive fights. The weight for this fight was farcical.

Just to add, fighting Paul Williams would absolve him of a fight with all three of the above. Bet you PBF don't have the balls to fight him for sure.....

Yeah I'm with you, he beat a lightweight as a Welterweight woohoo, I fell asleep so missed the fight but I'm surprised as hell he could not stop him.

If you look at the styles. Marquez only landed about 75 punches the fight maybe more. And that had nothing to do with Mayweathers weight. At a lesser weight Floyd would be quicker and faster. Fact is he outquicked and outboxed Marquez. Marquez couldn't find him anywhere in the ring and if you think that it had anything to do with Mayweathers weight it would be delusional.

You have a point, but Marquez was that small he really couldn't get close never mind get inside atall. It kinda reminded me of Darchinyan vs Burgos. Burgos being a good fighter, but just couldn't get anywhere near Vic due the the reach and size advantage..... I still say floyd should have put the lights out.

He was too small and too weak to make an impact in the fight, sounds like Floyd played it safe if he just kept him at range I'll have to download this farce later on.

No he didn't. He showed Marquez something Marquez wasn't expecting. A jab. He jabbed Marquez all night and Marquez just couldn't avoid the leaping left hook, Floyd showed great timing and defense and presented Marquez with a style he just couldn't figure out. Marquez couldn't land anything and when he went back in the corner he would put his hands on his lips like "Alright how the heck do I beat this guy" It is the first time I've seen Marquez this befuddled and confused with another fighter. Mayweathers speed was a great factor, but unlike Pacquiao Mayweather was the one timing Marquez when people thought it could be the other way around if Marquez had a chance. It was a brilliant performance. Floyd landed nearly 60 percent of his punches and Marquez landed maybe 12 percent of his. That had nothing to do with the weight. Even if they were the same weight class Marquez landed nothing that would have ever hurt Mayweather, he barely landed anything at all and he was trying but even with his combinations Floyd wasn't getting hit. He was just too skillful for Marquez and that would have been the case at any weight

Why would he fight Paul Williams. He filled half an arena against Winky. What would he make from fighting Williams?

He's either going to get Pac/Cotto or Mosley. And he'll beat all 3. Williams would be tough but he doesn't sell tickets. High risk, low reward fight. I'd like to see it, but it's not happening and i don't blame Floyd. it doesn't make business sense. Besides, after he beat him there would be 15 threads about how he wouldn't beat Berto.

Without doubt. He left as clear number 1 he came back, he fought and he conquered a true modern day great. People are getting on about all the natural advantages and weight and blah blah blah. What about the fact he hadn't fought for 2 years? Surely that wasn't an advantage for him?

For me the best fighter P4P since a prime Roy Jones and they are very close, maybe Roy had the better, faster combos but on the flipside Floyd's defence will still work when his speed diminishes whereas Roy learned the hard way that when his speed went his unorthodoxy was his downfall! That time still has to come for Floyd but I don't see him suffering the heavy KO's Roy did!

imo P4P is nonsense anyway! it's bollocks pure and simple! In one weight division you can maybe use it as a guage but.....

the whole premise is pound (English Sterling pound, as in £) per pound (in weight of fighter)

How the hell can you try and compare the likes of PBF, Pac & Cotto to the big lumps like the Klitsch's, Valuev etc!

'Oh yeah Vitali would destroy PBF with one jab!'

'But Vitali wouldn't be able to catch Floyd'

I hate the p4p tag, it means nowt to me and it has only come into such popular usage over the past few years with the actions of..... quel suprise 'moneys' promoters

Floyd looked Spectacular last night and Is interesting when we heard peoples asking a Floyd vs Pacman fight , IMO for What ? Pac vs Marquez was a closer fight and to me that could be the similar fight that Marquez did , though Pacman is more aggressive and offensive , but i seeing that that most of fans have to understand that they are in high weight , now with that Marquez fight and the next of Cotto vs Pac we can determine how they could handle their weights with a competitive fighters.......

Both made a good fight , Congratulations !!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I still think Pac is #1.... It's easily arguable that he could beat anyone down from his current weight of 140... And is now going for a fighter who is very formidable at 147... yes it's a catch weight forget that.. The principle Pac is ruling his weight division down, and is chasing the biggest fights possible upwards...

Floyd came back to take on someone who's previous win was at 135.. Not 140, not 147, and not even chasing a fighter from 154, EVEN at a catch weight...

Regardless of how he showed his skills again, how the f'ck can someone who's been out of boxing for 3 years, come back and fight someone who's naturally 12 pounds less and go straight to number 1 P4P... Espeically when P4P Pac is going for much much much more challenging fights for his weight, and winning them so far...

Usually agree with JT but sorry, Floyd gotta take on the highest ranked opponent at 147 AT LEASTTTTTT to be considered for P4P #1 again...

He's got skills and arguably the best boxer on the planet right now, probably not arguably in many people's eyes, but his opposition needs to reflect that IMO considering his biggest challenger for P4P, Pac, is doing that with success..
