Majesty it was WELL KNOWN that Cotto had weight problems even from his early days at 140. Go back and watch fights it's constantly commented on and yes it was a very serious thing for him. I'm sure you remember Paulie making a fuss when they moved the weigh in to noon to help him rehydrate more before the fight. Just because he weighed 2 pounds less and fought good against an amateur rival doesn't mean anything. Yeah he was juiced for that fight no doubt that doesn't mean weight wasn't a problem. Cotto had problems with the weight all along. I don't think that has much to do with his questionable tactics at times just walking guys down, ect. but it was a problem. You could see a visible difference in his comfort level when he moved to 147.

Yeah but at the same time you can't use the weight excuse for one fight when the very next fight he weighs in less and looks spectacular. His weight issues had no bearing on him getting stunned by Corley. He got stunned, end of.

You can't say "Oh he looked bad cause of the weight in this fight but the very next fight he was fine" if every time he's ever looked bad at 140 it was the weight and it shut on and off is hard to believe. I can give you the Malignaggi fight. But the whole "he looked bad cause of his weight in this fight but looked just fine if not spectacular in his next one" doesn't hold too much weight imo.
