Well in a way the Flip has a point.
Roy Jones gets a pass for a dirty drug test.
Shane Mosley gets a pass for Balco.
Evander Holyfield gets a pass for HGH and steroids under his pseudonym Evans Fields.
All those 4 guys are praised to death in this forum and other boxing forums. No questioning their accomplishments.
I think they all got ripped at the time. It's just because the Pacquiao allegations are so recent and because they played a part in the scrapping of the biggest fight in 10 years that people are so critical at the moment. 5 - 10 years from now, when all this is in the rear view mirror like the Holyfield, Jones, and Mosley scandals I imagine it will be looked at the same way. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it had less of a long-term impact because Pacquaio has never been proven to have done anything wrong. It's just a flavour of the month topic because people are angry about Pacquiao-Mayweather falling through.
That's the main thing. This is in the here and now. I am posting during this time and I see it before my eyes. How could I not comment upon it? Jones Jr. was way back and it wasn't my time nor responsibility to comment upon it. If it was to happen in Hopkins/Jones 2 then you can guarantee that I will be saying my thing, but I don't think it will happen.
There are a few things that contribute to the backlash Pac is receiving. Forget the fact that Pac and his team had many contradicting excuses for not taking the tests even contradicting each other, forget the fact that Pac had Trevor Graham, a known and proven PED cheating trainer, as his trainer, and forget the fact that Pac's current nutritionist, Ariza, said he is getting faster as he is getting bigger and that he is in control and that Pac doesn't know what he gives him. Its the whole arrogant attitude that Pac's team has taken. They expect to call all the shots in negotiations even the weight and weight penalty and the one request Mayweather had they respond like Mayweather is the one wrong for asking. "How dare he want a proven even playing field?" They then go on to say stupid lies like "Mayweather is scared to fight Pac", "Mayweather ended the possible fight" even though they signed Clottey first. They say Mayweather should only request whats in the rules even though they've requested and gotten many rule bending and outside of the rules requests. Yes, you will have your "any fighter" haters but outside of the ring the Pac team is doing a terrible job staying liked by anyone not a nuthugger. Roy Jones Jr's situation was merely swept under the rug so there was little dwelling time and RJJ did not try to excuse himself. Fair or not, RJJ let the situation die and it did.
I don't know why I'm getting into these debates again, maybe because it's a slow day.
I see your point on Pac's side about all the contradictions and excuses. But I've noticed this in the past 4 or 5 threads, when I've asked this question of what is this A-side meth that the Mayweather's particulary Floyd Sr. is accusing Pacquiao have been doing and everyone avoids it like the plague. This whole issue started with him by saying that Pac is on PEDs especially this A-side meth. A drug developed by the Filipino military that can make one take .38 and .45 bullets on the battlefield of war and the so called user keeps on coming forward just like in the boxing ring.
So I'm going to ask again what is this A-side meth where after taking it you can not only take bullets to the head and body but hard punches also.
Explain it to me, because everyone in almost every forum including this one has avoided the question of this miracle drug as explained by Floyd Sr and Roger.
I got bored 1 day and tried to look it up on the New england Journal of Medicine and (gasp!) it was nowhere to be found!
