The first time Froch fought what I'd call a known quantity at world level was the Taylor fight. And for the first few rounds of that Taylor completely outclassed Froch. If Taylor didn't have a stamina problem ( he didn't even try to take Froch out after he knocked him down, same as with Pavlik in their second fight) it would have been a twelve round boxing lesson. He looked to me in the early part of that fight like a British title level fighter given his big chance against a top American, not quite Lockett Pavlik but not far away.
Against Dirrell he was fighting a guy who was quite clearly shitting himself in the buildup and in the ring. If that fight was to happen again, especially in Detroit, I'd pick Dirrell to win. Whether it's because of the experience Dirrell got from fighting Froch or because he was fighting at home, and I'd suggest that this tournament so far shows there's a hell of an advantage to fighting at home, Dirrell was a different fighter against Abraham than he was against Froch. He was beating Abraham easily until he got knocked out.
As for Froch's future fights, I think if the home advantage thing continues and Kessler isn't completely shot mentally by losing to Ward then Kessler wins at a canter. He's not going to stand and fight with Froch and has the ability to just box his way to a points win. The Abraham fight is a different matter. Apparently it's going to be in Nottingham although there's just a small item on boxing scene to say that and no official confirmation. But if Abraham has to fight in Nottingham against a really hostile crowd he might not fancy it too much. I'm still going to go with Abraham though.
I think Froch as a top pound for pound guy is a little bit optimistic. He's a stong, tough fighter but he's useless against anybody with speed or real boxing ability. If he draws Ward eventually home or away he might as well not bother turning up.
