It is pointless comparing the fighters based on their most recent performances.

Kessler got whooped by Ward but Froch would probably suffer a similar fate. He's too slow to beat Ward imo.

Abraham got outboxed by Dirrell clearly. What was clear was Dirrell's confidence to stand in front of Abraham and box him. Against Froch he was happier to run than box, he learned from that fight and it showed. Dirrell should of won that Froch fight also.

Stylistically Froch is a good matchup for Kessler because he comes forward and isn't the best defensively. Kessler has shown in the past he can easily deal with that. I give Froch a good chance though because of his strength, rough tactics, etc.

I give Froch 0 chance against Abraham. Once Abraham starts unleashing his bursts, all Froch can do is take them and hope to be still standing after. Abraham is stopping Froch.

I don't agree with that. His resume is as good as anyone's in the tourny, bar Taylor and Kessler.

Pascal, Taylor, and Dirrell are all good fighters and Froch beat every one of them (even if Dirrell did get robbed).
I'd say Froch has a better resume than Kessler, Kessler has beaten Andrade and Mundine, both years ago. He hasn't won a significant fight in about 3 years.

Taylor has Hopkins on his record which probably tops anything Froch has done, but not a whole lot else.

Oh and you saying Bute will annihilate Froch has really irritated me

Froch will destroy Bute if they ever meet, the sig bet is most definitely on!

Bute eats Froch up with superior handspeed and movement. Both things Froch has trouble dealing with. Fact. Nevermind he's a southie.

I guess this is because he was behind against Taylor until the knockout and becuase he looked slow and clumsly against Dirrell.

But to be fair to him he looked much better in his last fight than both Kessler and Abraham did in theirs.

The Froch Dirrell fight was one you could argue went either way, but you'd struggle to find a single round before the 10th that you could give Abraham against the same fighter.

As for Kessler, he lost damn near every minute of every round against Andre Ward, it was Lazy Calzahghe, Coralles Mayweather style royal pummeling of a so called champion fighter, he was humiliated.

Yet the belief persists that Froch is worse than both of them, and will likely get knocked out both times.

I'm going out on a limb here but I think he can beat both of them, and book his way into the final against Andre Ward, with the winner being probably p4p number 1 allowing for the retirement of the winner of any future Floyd Manny showdown.

It could happen guys, imagine that, Carl Froch p4p number 1.....
Simply put, he doesn't not have the boxing skills that those two have. He screams mediocre. Jermain Taylor beat himself and Andre Dirrell is a pussy.

I think Arthur Abraham will have the easiest time with him.

With Kessler, it depends on who shows up. If Kessler is finished, than the fight will be something akin to the Froch v Dirrell fight; if Kessler's fire is truly renewed, then IMO Froch doesn't stand a chance.

Personally, I would love to see Kessler blow him out.

Either way, i can't wait to see the fights.

And BTW, relating Calzaghe v Kessler to Corralles v Mayweather is ridiculous on many levels...

Kessler lost to Calzaghe, but wasn't humiliated.

I recall no sig bet, but I'm sure we can work something out if they ever meet. I'm not even a big fan of Bute, I just have a ton of respect for his abilities and I think a slick, fast, heavy-handed southpaw like Bute would be a lot of trouble for Froch.

Yup, I just don't understand why people are dogging his rating and such. He has a huge amount of skill.

Sorry, Bilbo... But you'd lose this bet.

Bute's not getting dragged into a brawl. He's too smart for that. ...and when that doesn't happen Bute severely outboxes him.

I suppose I should qualify my opinion a little bit. I think Froch's pressure might give Bute a bit of trouble and if he can find a way to improve his defense I might give him a better chance of pulling off the upset. But if Bute fought the Froch of today, he would murder him with counter-punching and stop him somewhere in the middle rounds.

I didn't relate anything to Kessler's loss to Calzaghe, I said Calzaghe Lacy, Corrales Mayweather. Kessler got humiliated by Andre Ward the way Calzaghe humiliated Jeff Lacy.

Got it--misinterpreted Lazy to Lacy. ...don't think Mayweather or Calzaghe needed 5 headbutts, or to punch while in the clench either.

It was a clear win to Ward but hadly a complete annihilation like Calzaghe Lacy, or Mayweather Corrales. Kess did win some rounds. I'd put it more on a par with a Mayweather v Hatton fight.

I thought Froch lost the Dirrell fight 116-112, maybe 115-113. It wasn't a robbery, but it was a hometown decision. In fairness, Dirrell opened the door for Froch, but he should have gotten the decision.

That being said, the gift win against Dirrell looks much better now that Dirrell took AA to school. I would have never given him a shot against Kessler before the tournament started, but it's a fair conversation now.

Still, I cannot imagine Froch beating Ward. Ward is so much smarter than Dirrell and every bit as fast. He's not afraid to get physical, and he won't be scared of Froch's power like Dirrell was. Ward will clearly beat Froch, probably by KO. As far as AA goes, Froch has a chance, I suppose, because AA relies so much on a punch that might never come. However, Froch is very hittable and he likes to mix it up. I think he's taylor made for Abraham. Dirrell was too fast and slick for Abraham to catch. Froch isn't that fast or slick, and if Taylor can come close to knocking him out, AA will put him to sleep.

I don;t think Froch will beat Ward either, me and Amat knew the score picking Ward to win the whole thing in the poll before the first round tournament started.

If Kessler can find his old Kessler-heart from the Calzaghe fight, I think that Froch will be beaten half to death and probably KO`et too, if not, then it will be a straight fight

Its a fair question Bilbo & you make some valid points, but for me styles make fights & both Abraham & Kessler have styles to beat Froch.

Default Re: Why does the majority think Froch is inferior to Abraham and Kessler?

Well Bilbo considering me and you, have debated on Lucian Bute the most. I'll happily take a bet with you regarding Lucian Bute vs Carl Froch, i've been impressed with Lucian Bute before he even won a title, with stoppage wins over tough opponents like Kabary Salem. So whenever they fight i'll happy accept.
