IMO, he's the biggest low-life in boxing at the present time, and I hopes he does the right thing and quietly retires from boxing. In another thread, I remarked at the irony of it all: What Margarito tried to do to Mosley (and probably Cotto) by loading his gloves... Pacquiao may have just done to Margarito.... END his career. But without the plaster.
Also if you look at Cotto's position in all this there are a couple of things that could happen to make a rematch a bad situation for him #1 Miguel Cotto as much as I admire and respect the guy as a fighter is no longer as fresh as he used to be (no thanks to Margarito) and someone who is durable can beat him and I (am sure along with many of his fans) wouldn't want that person to be Margarito it would be salt in the wound #2 Margarito seeing how his career as a fighter is up against the ropes (or more like receiving a standing 8 count) is in a place where he could try something distgusting to avoid a beating....I'm not saying he would try to cheat again (though I'd never put it past him) but I'm thinking more along the lines of fouling in order to gain an advantage and win. Now he's never purposely done that before but he's at a nadir in his career and people can do stupid things when they are desperate especially when they want to avoid a beating...look at Cooney vs Holmes, look at Tyson vs Holyfield II, Tyson vs Botha, Bowe vs Tillery....I don't want Cotto to get put in position where Margarito can hurt him again....anyone but him, just my view as a fan.

I had someone at work tell me exactly the same thing you just did. Me... I'm kind of torn, but lean toward your point of view. Truth is... Cotto doesn't need Margarito, who has cast the shadow of doubt on his previous fights by the shit he tried against Mosley. It would be SWEET... no doubt about that, but the risk isn't worth the reward. Besides, Margarito is shot to hell and probably should retire. What boxing props is Cotto going to get by beating up on Margarito? None. And it's just not worth it. I think Emanuel Stewart is one of the best things that have happened to Cotto's career, but damn it... just a few fights too late. I think Manny could straighten out a few of the kinks in Cotto's gameplan, and there's nothing that says that Cotto wouldn't return the favor on Margarito. But again... people would just say: "Oh... Cotto just beat up a ruined fighter." And they'd probably be right. Screw Margarito! Let him fade off into obscurity, where he belongs.

Also if Cotto fought and beat him it would be a hollow victory.....even if Cotto laid down the most savage beat down of his career on Margarito it would be vs a shell of a man and it wouldn't bring anything back to Miguel.

High risk low reward....plus if Cotto fought him he'd just be giving more money to the guy that took so much from him. I mean most of you forget had Cotto won the fight vs Margarito the fight vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. was getting pretty close because the public wanted it.

We might see Dela Hoya vs Hatton too in 2011...

DE LA HOYA TARGETS HATTON FOR 2011 COMEBACK?

Former jr. welterweight champion and British sensation Ricky Hatton may have just been given an offer that he can't refuse: a mega-fight with former 10-time world champion and pay-per-view kingpin Oscar De La Hoya.

De La Hoya has officially been retired since Apirl of 2009, when he made the announcement during a public press conference just four months after Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiaio battered him for eight rounds before the corner mercifully called a halt to the bout. Although this isn't the first time that rumors of a De La Hoya comeback have surfaced, it is the first time that an official from Golden Boy Promotions is on record discussing plans for a return.

Seriously, when are people gonna call Arum on his own BS on having only his fighters fight each other instead of the other people out there?

There is a guy at 147 who would probably love to get a shot at Cotto named Andre Berto. When is he going to get a fight?

Anyway on to the fight Cotto may actually be smart this time and decide to box the later rounds instead of trading and trying to stop Margarito. Like i said, Cotto blows his load early and tries to stop people late, if they don't yield, he goes into a shell unless they give him time to recover, which is what Clottey did. Neither Pacquiao, nor margarito gave him that time. And Foreman wasn't a puncher. Then again, looking at Margarito lately, he isn't the same fighter either, if it came down to who is the more shot between the two, I'd probably say Margarito, especially after the beating he took a few nights ago. Cotto has proven he can outbox Margarito, and avoid his punishment, it was his own pride and being stupid that got him in trouble the last time. I don't think Stewart would let him make the same mistake twice.

Be interested to see how Margaritos mug holds up. Have never seen that type of lumping and damage on him and no doubt even a battle weary Cotto will land o' plenty on him. Styles and execution I think Tony stops him again. Uppercuts, body and backing Cotto to square on ropes was key and Margaritos knows his chin can take what Cotto has,and so does Cotto.

That was before he was stopped by Mosley and looked terrible in the last two fights and getting busted up badly. Cotto has taken less damage since the Margarito fight than Margarito has imo.

Unless Margarito's chin is completely destroyed, he stops Cotto late once again.

Now THIS is a fight that needs to happen and should happen next year. The fact of the matter is that we don't know whether Tony's gloves were loaded or not for the Cotto fight. The majority of people believe it but we don't know. Cotto and Margarito are both lingering around 154 now. This is a bad blood fight that will be another FOTY candidate. I'm excited.

    I think so too.

Margarito is limited, but Cotto has more limitations for me. His chin and stamina are lacking and Margarito would make him suffer again.

Two shot bums going at it for a bit of pocket change.... yeah why not might be entertaining. I'm sure someone can manufacture some kind of belt for the winner to have.

Not that you care or anything but Miguel Cotto is the WBA title holder at 154
