Charles Brewer and Nigel Benn could do some damage in the super six.

Yeah I think Ortega maybe stopped it too soon. I couldnt see Brewers face so maybe his eyes rolled over or something, but to let Echols come back from that 3 knockdown round, he should have gave Brewer the same chance. Both of those guys can bomb and dont necessarily have the best chins out there. Brewer probably should have gotten nods over Ottke, and a good fight of his is against Pemberton.

Herol Graham fought Brewer in his last ever fight and was 106 years old. Bomber had put on a good series of wins against an undefeated Canadian and Vinny Pazienza before he fought Brewer. In that fight Graham fought away from home, knocked down Charles, who injured his ankle as he went down. Brewer sucked it up and stopped Graham on the ropes. A younger version of Graham would have won the fight easily.

You Brits sure think a lot of Herol Graham. I've never watched many of his fights so I can't say much about him.

Seemed to have a bit of a fragile chin though. Of course ANYONE could be KO'd by Julian Jackson.

Yes my favourite British fighter, wold have beaten Benn, Eubank and Watson. He was number 1 contender for the title that Hagler had. definitely the best fighter never to win a world title.

That was a cracking little punch-up. Terrible stoppage though. Think the ref panicked seeing his head snap back.

I was amazed Cazlaghe didn't drop Brewer at the time. Cazlaghe was known as a banger then and, as has been said, we'd seen ancient old Graham dropping Brewer. Entertaining fighter.

Think Joe said that was his hardest fight or up there with the Eubanks one.

I have a Ring magazine with excerpts from Calzaghe's book and he talks about how tough and hard of a puncher Charles Brewer was.

He mentions how Brewer was a tough fighter, and he could see it in his eyes when the fight was signed that Brewer had the hunger to win back a world title.

He also talks about how Brewer still had a bullet lodged in his body from a street fight years ago.

Also Brewer was a southpaw that converted orthodox so his left hook was terribly powerful according to Calzaghe, but not his right hand.
