I quickly flashed through 12 rounds of Kevin Mitchell Jogging round the ring. I better go back and pay more attention.... Was it really that good of a performance?

I can see where your coming from and I know Barrera was old, BUT he hits harder than a 12 year old girl and to me was a risk for Khan. Ok he got an easier night than he might have due to the cut from the clash of heads but it was a risk that I was shocked to see Khan take.
Of course he was a risk, Barrera was only 12 months removed from going 12 rounds with Manny Pacquaio which in hindsight seems pretty damn impressive yet post Khan all we hear is that Barrera was shot.
Then he fought for a world title, then he fought his mandatory.
There has simply been no opportunity for him to fight anyone else.
He's won his belt now, and got his mandatory out of the way, lets see where he goes from here, but don't rain on the kid when he's fought three great fights back to back.
I find myself agreeing with Bilbo, he fought the guy he was supposed to , not his fault if he was shit. MAB was supposed to be going to destroy him, didn't happen ( lets not bang on about what cuaed the cut!!) .
I think a lot of the problem comes from the kid having a big gob and being full of the brown stuff. At what point will people give him credit, don't say when he has fought quality,as said above, he fought the mandatory and took a chance fighting a legend.
A lot of people still said he would get stopped , then others say he had a guy in there with no punch. For a guy who is chinny he certainly went after his opponent.
just give credit to this 23 year old kid, amir khan. he was impressive in destroying his mandatory challenger. his straight right, left hook and combinations were very impressive on this fight. tho i saw one instance when he got carried away and somewhat left himself open but his opponent was nowhere a threat at that time.
Agree totally, nothing wron with the choice of opponents, they're not even claiming he's ready for the very top yet not as if they're making outlandish claims already.
I think he has a chance against Marquez, stylistically, and I don think Roach waould mention him if he didn't belive it himself. Diaz/Malignaggi are winnable as well IMO and prob the route I'd pick for him as Marquez is the banger of three.
I think Marquez would be a step too far for Khan at the minute. I think people are thinking JMM is shot due to what happened against PBF, that is not the case he was just outclassed by the best in the business.
Right now but a year is a long time in boxing. By the end of 2010 if Khan continues his development the way he is going you would have to fancy him to have a great chance imo.
Barrera was going toe to toe with Marquez and Pacquaio and giving them competitve fights only 18 months or so before stepping in with Khan.
Another 10 months or so and the pendulam swings in Khan's favour imo.
Too big, too fast, too strong, and under Freddie Roach he will have the right gameplan and discipline to carry it out.
His chin is always going to be suspect but he has the skills and speed to dominate between 135-140 over the next couple years imo.
If he had Froch's toughness he'd be a monster.
Interesting that we have Saddo records to disprove what you say.
Here's the Saddo preview poll to the Khan Barrera fight.
The result 23 went for Khan, a clear majority of 38, (including you) went for Barrera
Rather than rubbishing the fight, in fact you were mostly rubbishing Khan's chances.
Check for yourself, before the event two thirds of you thought Barrera would beat Khan, after the event it was a self evidently obvious that Khan was in for an easy night against a shot opponent

Khan had definately improved under Roach and fair play for a job well done but he needs up it now.
I'd go ALL OUT for Hatton, huge scalp and he's be massive in the US overnight.
Huge UK fight that imo would be the clever way to jump into the big league.
That fact that Ricky currently has 5 chins may poo poo this.
Wondering if him and Naz are dining out alot![]()
