Default If a guy boxes so sideways he almost has his back to you

I spar this guy sometimes who trys to emulate a bit of a PBF style , he turns very sideways and has his right hand up , left hand down or across the waist

He is orthadox so his left side is very exposed to me, o keep hitting him on the back because he only has to turn a tiny bit and his back is exposed to my field of view

Is it legal for me to hit him there?

Hope you can imagine what situation I am describing, I know it is not the best description!

What I would do is throw straight shots at his side or just above his hip.

This sghould straighten him up a bit. Also when he turns or slips down step to your right, you're out of his view and he';ll have to come up to engage you again. That should offer an opportunity for you to hit him.

Say, "I couldn't help but notice the "hit me right here" sign that you have on your back.

It's not legit, and you might get some warnings if it's a real fight.

Here's a fun trick that of mine if they get complacent and have their front hand low. When you close the distance, and their left is low, pin it to the side with one hand, and hit them with your free hand. Do it quickly and step away from their right.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

ooh I once sparred a guy like that, he also used the tactic of stepping on my foot and keeping it there neat trick

never did figure him out totally. Although keeping punches crisp, straight and in bunces did work better than getting frustrated and trying to wing in hooks that they just dip away from so you get the back of the head if you throw a left or they run if you throw a right.

I think "pain in the arse" is the technical term. It's a puzzle that has been on my mind for a while now. One way that works is the Messican that throws 100+ punches around, this might make him punch back in which he can get countered in the process, or...

Beat him at his own game. Easier said than done right? Make them lead, take from their example by making yourself harder to hit, while offering a little bait and catch em by not being the one to get frusterated. It's a hard way to go, but there are a thousand and one nifty tricks to even the gap. The occassional stepping-on-the-foot being no exception.

don't mean to sound like a prick, but i would hit him in the kidney as hard as i could. in fact, my main sparring partner used to do that and then try to come underneath with an uppercut. so id try to feint him with the right, get him turned and bent over a bit, and then use an overhand right to punch him right where there's no leather. if a guy turns his back to me just enough to expose his kidneys, he's fair game as far as im concerned. i mean, what am i supposed to do, stop boxing? that's his problem. protect yourself at all times.

it's just like in hockey.... if a guy tries to block my shot, i try to hurt him, plain and simple. (and i can rifle it.....not quite like the nhl'ers but they use composite sticks, i still use wood!) if you can't take it, don't block shots. and if you can't take a kidney shot, don't turn sideways.

Rotating left and practising a left uppercut based philososphy can work too.
I shadow boxe dd this on my lunch and I'd just use his awkwardness to my advantage.
