Vicente \”Chente\” Escobedo: Hometown Supports Homegrown Talent.

By Sergio Martinez May 11th, 2005 All Boxing Articles, Boxing Previews
On May 27, 2005, at the Arco Arena, in Sacramento, California, former 2004 U.S. Olympian and current super featherweight prospect Vicente "Chente" Escobedo (3-0-0 with 3 KOs), will return to ring for his fourth professional bout. Fresh off his three round demolition of the tough Mexican, Geronimo

"Torito" Hernandez, which was televised on Telefutura’s "Solo Boxeo" series, Escobedo will apply his craft in front of many of his hometown fans, as Team Escobedo has organized a minibus tour leaving from his home base of Woodland, California to the Arco Arena in Sacramento to support their pugilistic warrior. Woodland, a suburb of Sacramento with approximately fifty thousand residents, must take great pride in knowing that one of their own not only represented the Stars and Stripes in the Olympic Games, but has also shown the type of promise that is sure to bring fame and notoriety. This will be "Chente’s" first appearance before his hometown fans, never having fought in the area even as an amateur. The crowd is in for a big surprise as believe me fight fans when I say this kid is someone to keep an eye, as he is still learning, and that’s a scary thought for anyone in his weight division. Stay tuned as SaddoBoxing.com will bring you an exclusive interview with the young prospect himself, Vicente "Chente" Escobedo.
