Boxing Giant Nikolai Valuev Hits Chicago After Conquering New York

By Boxing Press August 31st, 2006 All Press Releases

The Nikolai "Giant Russian" Valuev media tour makes a stop at the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, the Sears Tower in Chicago, today after a successful tour of New York two days ago. The WBA Heavyweight Champion and Don King were featured on the Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto" in the Big Apple on Tuesday before venturing out to Flushing Meadows and the U.S. Open tennis tournament. Valuev wanted to see his friend Maria Sharapova compete at 7 p.m. but play was postponed due to rain.

King took it upon himself to entertain the throngs of media members in attendance who were left nothing to cover due to the rainout and introduced them to Valuev. King and Valuev also posed for pictures with many tennis stars including 2004 French Open champion Anastasia
Myskina, also from Russia.

Today Don King and his "Giant Russian’", Valuev hit the Sky Deck at Sears Tower for a Press Conference to announce Nikolai's title defense against Monte "Two Gunz" Barrett at Allstate Arena in suburban Chicago on 7 October.

The hotly anticipated fight card also features undefeated WBC Light Heavy Champion Tomasz Adamek in a rematch with hard as nails Aussie challenger Paul Briggs along with
Matt "Boom Boom" Zegan battling Nate Campbell to determine the IBF's No. 1 lightweight.

Americans will get their chance to see the undefeated 7-foot, 325-pound Nikolai “Giant Russian” Valuev when he makes the second defense of his World Boxing Association title against Monte “Two Gunz” Barrett at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on Oct. 7.

Tickets priced at $250, $200, $100, $75, $50 and $35, with a limited number of golden circle seats available at $500, are on sale now at the Allstate Arena box office (847-635-6601), online at Ticketmaster.com or through charge by phone by calling (312) 559-1212.
