Last night, at the Nottingham Trent Arena in England, on a Hennessy Sports promoted fight night – Carl ʽThe Cobraʼ Froch won the WBC Super Middleweight title by unanimous points decision, defeating Canadian Jean Pascal in what was a ʽfantasticʼ twelve rounds of boxing.

The first few rounds sees Froch ʽfeel the forceʼ of Pascalʼs speed and strength, but he kept focussed against the counter-punching Montreal man, whipping out the jab to win the title on scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 118-110.

There was a total of four ʽtitleʼ bouts last night which also included a 10 round light heavyweight English title clash between local man Rod Anderton and Norwich boxer Danny McIntosh. But it was a short nightʼs work for McIntosh, who floored Anderton inside the first half of round one.

Stokesʼ Scott Lawton challenged Walsall-man Martin Gethin for the English Lightweight title, but a cut to the head of Gethin resulted in the ninth round stoppage and a less-than-jubilant Lawton, who takes the belt back to Stoke.

Paul David of Sheffield scored a seventh round knockout over local-man Tyrone Wright when they met for an English Super Middleweight title clash. David lost out to Wright in May when they fought for the Midlands Area Light Heavyweight title.

Full fight report, pictures and undercard results to follow.
