  • David Haye Left Wondering By Tyson Fury’s Antics

    Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has laughed off Tyson Fury’s claim that he will pursue a kickboxing bout just one month after the pair’s boxing showdown on September 28 in Manchester.

    Fury expressed his desire to compete in the kickboxing contest, scheduled for Bucharest on October 25, regardless of whether he wins or loses against Haye later this month. But Haye, the betting favourite, doesn’t expect his nemesis to succeed with punches or kicks anytime soon.

    “If it was allowed, I’d let Tyson use his head, shoulders, knees and toes against me on September 28,” said the Londoner. “He’ll need all of those sharp edges just to make the fight competitive. (more…)

  • Ricky Burns Keeps WBO Crown With Controversial Beltran Verdict

    Ricky Burns was fortunate to keep his WBO Lightweight championship with a twelve round split draw with Raymundo Beltran at the Scottish Exhibition Centre in Glasgow, Scotland

    The fight was televised live in the United States on AWE (formerly Wealth TV).

    Burns controlled the first round and a he as he jabbed and worked the body. Beltran started landing some hard shots with the left hook and began to find his rhythm in round’s two and three. (more…)

    Someone’s ‘0’ must go at the ‘Celtic Clash’, but stylish switch hitting former Irish amateur champion Declan Trainor is determined that he will maintain his clean slate when he faces fellow unbeaten Sligo fighter Stephen ‘Block’ Reynolds for the Celtic Nations cruiserweight title on a bumper bill at the Devenish Complex in Belfast on Saturday, September 14.

    Trainor has not been required to get off his stool for round two thus far in his pro career. The double dose of first round knockouts dished out to his foes in his opening contests have sent alarm bells ringing around the cruiserweight division and he is confident that he can keep his run of stoppages going in Belfast against Reynolds.
