    For the first time in seven years, the future is looking bright for the kid out of Philadelphia, Zahir Raheem. Boxing fans may be familiar with the name from when he gained worldwide exposure in 2005 when he not only upset a prime Erik Morales (48-2-0, 35 KO’s at the time), but dominated the man who fans referred to as “El Terrible.”

    In the 2005 fight that was aired on HBO from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Morales was a clear favorite to win as it was simply a warm up fight for his upcoming prize fight rematch against Manny Pacquiao. (more…)

  • Prospect Douglas KO’s Overmatched Zapata In Whitehall NY

    Last night at the Whitehall Athletic Club, prized Middleweight prospect Antoine Douglas scored a spectacular second round stoppage over Juan Zapata to raise his perfect mark to 6-0 with 4 knockouts.

    Douglas of Washington, D.C dropped Zapata, 2-6-1, once in round one and two times in the second frame. Douglas worked the body throughout the fight and the body work set up the first two knockdowns. With Zapata’s hands guarding his body, Douglas came upstairs with a devastating left hook to drop Zapata completely out in the second frame. (more…)

    Teenage welterweight sensation, Dusty Hernandez-Harrison of Washington, D.C., kept his undefeated record intact scoring a six-round unanimous decision victory over a game Jonathan Garcia at Dover Downs Casino and Resort in Dover, Del.

  • Golovkin, Macklin Come Face To Face In New York

    Earlier this afternoon in front of a jam-packed room of media at NYC’s historic Gallagher’s Steak House in midtown Manhattan, K2 Promotions and DiBella Entertainment hosted the initial press conference to announce the highly-anticipated Middleweight Championship between defending champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (26-0, 23KO’s) and Ireland’s top-rated, former world title challenger Matthew “Mack The Knife” Macklin (29-4, 20KO’s).

    The two highly-regarded middleweights will meet in their must-see showdown June 29 at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.   • Delaware Damager Mansour Knocks Out Gavern In Short Order

    World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion Amir “Hardcore” Mansour had a short night on Friday, April 12, at the Dover Downs Casino and Hotel in Dover, Delaware, as he stopped late substitute Jason Gavern in the first round to successfully defend his title.

    Mansour was originally scheduled to fight 2004 Olympian Devin Vargas who pulled out with a training injury. Then he was matched with Raphael Zumbano, but the Brazilian had to withdraw too and Gavern gamely stepped up to the plate on late notice. (more…)
