The nearer the fight gets, the more I’m talking myself into a Bud win. Obviously the underdog, but Canelo has lost twice and both times they were Technically gifted boxers. Bud ticks that box, and also has spite.
The elephant in the room is the weight difference. Yes , it’s a biggie, but the extra weight only works for you if you make the weight work for you. An example , although massively exaggerated is Haye-Valuev.
Standing up against each other, there isn’t much difference size wise and I would guess Crawford even has a reach advantage.
Crawford is notoriously known for being freakishly strong in the gym for his size. My hope is that he has spent this time out of the ring building up his frame and muscle mass sufficiently without losing his advantages (speed, IQ).
Big question marks are.
1. He didn’t look great against Madrimov (who I think is underrated) 2 weights below.
2. He’s no spring chicken and it’s very difficult to make these changes to your body and retain your legs at his age. Make no mistake there are times he will have to dance around the ring, he can’t slug with Canelo for 12 rounds.
3. An unknown , will his chin stand up to Canelo’s power punches? Because sure as shit Canelo will be able to withstand Crawford’s. But nobody is expecting a Bud KO. He just needs enough power to keep Canelo honest, like Floyd and Bivol had.
Let’s not use the Khan fight as any type of yardstick , because it’s chalk and cheese. Khan was already past his best, with a suspect chin and it would’ve been impossible to run for 12 rounds without getting plugged. Even so, he had his moments .
In summary, I accept Canelo is favourite, but I’m going all in and tipping (a bit in hope) a Bud victory. I was one of the very few that felt Canelo had chosen badly when he opted to fight Bivol and got that spot on.
I hope I’m right again.

On the bolded part... I'm sure you're not alone. Pretty sure Vegas will see it your way also. My reaction? Same ol' story. As the fight nears, fans will look for reasons to "make" this a legitimate fight, as well as a (cough) dangerous fight for Canelo. The reality is, it's not. The size difference and weight division jump just CANNOT be ignored. The wishing part in all of us kicks in, and "wishes" that Bud will "add muscle mass without losing his advantages." So how did his lone foray into super welter work out? Exactly. We can logic the hell out of the performance, but the overwhelming reaction to the fight was that Bud left his power back at 147. Now he's going up to SUPER MIDDLE. Two divisions higher than the one Bud didn't impress in.

The growing sentiment that this is an actual (cough) challenge for the much heavier Canelo will play nicely on the morning after the fight, after Canelo has either earned (due to an overly cautious Bud), or stolen (due to the historical pro-Canelo bias in Vegas) a decision win.

And yes... Bud is also old. (But since when has size or age stopped boxing from hyping the hell out of a Canelo fight?)

Khan was mentioned for a reason, and it wasn't to compare him to Bud. Only comprehension-challenged readers will read that interpretation into what I said. Khan was mentioned to illustrate Canelo's penchant for picking on undersized fighters and claiming some sort of impressive victory.

What nobody seems to understand is that Canelo has only twice miscalculated on his (very careful) cherry-picking choice of opponents. Both times he was embarrassed.
