I remember the days when people were saying Cotto wouldn't amount to anything....
Hes too robotical, hes 1 dimensional, he couldn't carry Zab Judahs jock strap etc. etc.

I remember this very clearly when I said "Cottos young and has a great mindset. He has room to improve and he will"
I was laughed I was told there was no way Cotto would improve. He fights 1 way and 1 way only. With fighters like Zab, Margarito, Spinks, Vernon, Mayorga etc. etc. he would never be able to improve....

I gotta say it feels great to have seen Cotto go from prospect, to contender, to World Champion and hopefully he can become an ATG.

Cottos one of my very 1st fighters I've seen go full circle and I'm proud to say I've been there from very early on. Kinda like some of you guys who saw Tyson from the start, or Lennox from day 1 or Eubank.
I was not one of those guys Mick, I always thought Cotto would do well. He always seemed very professional & light years ahead mentally... if you get what I mean.

The only thing I don't agree with in your post is the world champion part. He has not achieved that yet in my eyes. He is only a belt holder. But there are opportunities there for Cotto the win World Championships & become an ATG

He has a great list, just by staying undefeated fighting all those guys make him at least a hall of famer IMO, especially considering who has made it in.

    Right, title holder/title champion.
I consider him a World Champion.
If you notice when he beat SSM, he (SSM) was the WBC Interim champ. this means that PBF opted to fight Hatton and thus he didn't fight SSM.
So in part you can say he also holds a part of the WBC strap with PBF.
I don't like getting too into the political part of the sport cause with every little thing you'll open up a whole nother can of worms....
Be as it may Cottos argueably #1 in the top 5 Welters and is also Ring Mag. top 10 which speaks volumes.

I sent some Rep. your way for always bringing up a good talk....

Cotto when he wins Gomez he will fight the winner of Margarito vs Cintron.

I am a convert. At first He looked like he was stuck in mud and was prone to eating punches to often but over time He has grown on me a bit.Sheer tenacity and he showed Immproved boxing maturity Against Mosley.

The first few rounds vs. Judah stand out as a question,He looked sooo easy to catch angles on and spin into shots.I think he has a ways to go before the term "great" and Cotto cross path's but so far so good.I can see Gomez trying to box him and could make it interesting for a few round but Cotto should grind him down.I dont see bout with Mayorga happening,Unless Cotto bulks up.Mayorga would be so drained trying to get down It just makes no sense..........Or dollars really.

The fight I want Is Cotto Vs. Margarito

Yeah bro #1 WW & #7 P4P by Ring mag & you know those are the only rankings I recognize! So IMO Cotto holds essentially a part of nothing!!!

But you gotta beat the man to be the man!

As for Floyd/ Hatton it was the WW champ vs the Jr.W champ & IMO that was a better match-up than facing the #3 WW in Mosley... although I would have loved to have seen Floyd in with Shane!

For a young fighter even going back to when he 1st turned pro Cotto was such a serious young man. I admired that & always thought his determination would take him far!
