He's not turning down 8 million like Mayweather, guys!!! (And only fighting little welterweight chumps)

Nevertheless, I don't like his decision. It'd be a great fight. I still think Margarito has 2, at most 3 great fights left in him.

... 2 million, last I heard it was that much... is still A LOT!

See what i mean guys/girls ? thats exactly what i was saying earlier in this thread, Antonio Margarito would get his biggest paycheck against Shane Mosley. It would be a great fight and Antonio Margarito has always wanted the fight.

Yet when Shane Mosley calls him out on it and Antonio Margarito avoids the fight. Antonio Margarito gets praised for avoiding the fight what the hell ?

And if anyone believe's Antonio Margarito's offer of 8 million to Floyd Mayweather. There kidding themselves no way a no namer like Antonio Margarito would generate that amount.

And Floyd Mayweather had a much better offer of getting 8 million, and a shot at the Linear Welterweight title. Because Carlos Baldomir had beaten the man at that time Zab Judah fact.

Why does Floyd Mayweather get called a chicken for turning down fights, and why does Antonio Margarito get praised for turning down fights. Answer me that ?

Don't forget he turned down $4 million for a rematch with Williams, too. I don't want to hear anymore about people ducking Margarito.

I don't want to sound nasty here Daxx but it sounds like your just making excuses for Antonio Margarito. Where as if this was Floyd Mayweather people would be calling him a chicken ETC.

But Antonio Margarito gets praised for turning down a fight, which he really has no good reason to turn down ? i just sometimes don't get fans at all.

I like Antonio Margarito but i also like Floyd Mayweather, and we have to be fair here. Antonio Margarito accused Shane Mosley of ducking him in the past for supposedly 8 million dollars.

Which i don't believe for a second that a no namer at that time Antonio Margarito, would bring that kind of offer to big name opponents like Shane Mosley/Floyd Mayweather.

Then when Antonio Margarito gets the fight he has supposedly wanted, he avoids the fight ? that sounds like a hypocrite to me and thats all i'll say, until i hear more on the matter.

But i don't see how anyone else couldn't think that way at the moment.

Sound how ever you want but when Margarito was looking to fight these big names no one gave him the time of day....Now he should just accept every challenge?....Fair play in my book....

For years Tony was ignored....These names could have fought him then but choose not to.....He was side stepped...Disrespected by all as a "Club Fighter".......Even many posters on this board referred to him as such....

Margarito waited paitently for his time....No one needed him...now they NEED HIM...for the big fight because he is the big fight....Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot....

Those guys could have fought him and given him a payday but choose not to...so why not seek the biggest payday he can?.....He and his promoters know there is a bigger one available or these guys will up their ante....

If Williams people were so quick to have a 4 million dollar payday available to him means they are anxious...anxious enough to add to the pot....

Williams sat on his ass for a year gloating after the Tony win....leave him sit some more.....

A win over Mosley will just bring criticizim and everyone knows it...It will be "Mosley was way past his best why didn't Margarito fight so and so"...

His team knows that.....so make the best of it....Right now it is about Tony maximizing on what he has.....Rightfully so

Maybe if everyone would have given him some respect a few years ago he would be happy to return the favor but they didn't.....

As for those who are saying Margarito is avoiding anyone they are out of their minds...He not only fought but dominated the man no one else wanted to face Miguel Cotto...Tony fears no one

    What do you guys think?

Sadly Diane I think you should feel gutted as it means he's holding out for a rematch with Cotto, and in all honestly he'll probably ruin him.

But look on the bright side, at least True Blood has been signed for a second season

I'm was shocked that Margo turned a fight with Mosley down!! The only reason I see him doing so is if he got a better deal or he took more damage from the Cotto fight than we can all see on the surface.

I read that Mosley is going to get a fight with Berto going now. That should also be a good one. Gotta love Shane! Always looking for a big fight!

..i'm not sure of the reasoning behind any of this but i serioiusly doubt this whole fear theory. Floyd was in no way scared of tony and tony isn't scrared of mosely. Fear may be the reason in a small amount of cases but these guys are all warriors i don't think any of them are "scared" of any opponet or they wouldn't have made it this far in the first place. Any fight at this stage is gonna be rough.

This is why Margarito's self-proclaimed moniker 'most feared' made me dislike him. It only made business sense for Mayweather not to fight him or any other guy for that matter. Margarito was clamoring for fights, quite frankly, he didn't deserve. Except in this case, Margarito doesn't have that defense against Mosley. Mosley, even at this age, is an elite fighter who is still a bigger draw than him. Margarito is simply leapfrogging him for a bigger pay day. In a strictly business sense there's nothing wrong with that. Bug when you say guys won't fight you when you aren't a fighter who brings anything to the table to begin with you don't get to turn around and be one of those guys against someone EVERYBODY knows. From a fan's perspective nothing about that holds water. When you've built your reputation as Margarito has it's supposed to be about the red, not the green.

    Strong line.

Your point is that it is hypocritical and that is difficult to argue with. Plus, wouldn't it make the Cotto rematch more interesting if Margarito knocked Shane out? At least it would help in terms of name recognition.

On the other hand, Margarito was going to wash the floor with Shane. I wasn't super hype on that fight anyway.

You're right, it's not fear. It's calculation. On the very real possibility that Mosley could beat Margarito, Tony's people have decided against a lucrative fight he couldn't have put together on his own reputation for a HUGELY lucrative fight against a guy he already beaten and in all likelihood will beat again. So in other words, the 'most feared' guy is playing it 'safe'.

Williams only sat on his ass because NO ONE wanted to fight him. Gotta disagree with you on that Daxx.

Cotto would have fought him....If he wanted to move to 154 Forrest woukld have fought him...Baldo would have fought him for a chance at a title....Spinks...I can name a dozen guys who would have fought just for a title shot....Quintana would have fought him if the opp came before a years time....Cintron would have fought him....

all that NO ONE wanted to fightr him crap is just that...crap......

When I say no one wanted to fight Tony I do not mean it in the way of them fearing him...I mean it in the way that no one thought he was worth the time...Not enough money was in it.......

No fighter at the championship level fears another....IMO that is just BS talk most of the time...

Kermit Cintron was due to fight Williams in a unification and he then bitched out.

Williams only decided to go above welterweight as nobody at welterweight would fight him. Cotto wanted no part and Berto called him out and then wanted no part.

Thats why when all these fighters were asked who they wanted to fight, nobody brought up PW. Cotto wouldn't even say Mayweather's name after fights .....Zab was not more deserving than PW at that time. You forget the fact that Tony and Paul couldn't get Cotto so they had to fight each other.
