The answer is flat out NO.

Why should beating a fighter who's two weight divisions above his peak fighting weight make Hatton # 1? Granted, Pac whipped DLH at 147, but you can't use that as a measuring stick.

No, but he should be in the top 6 if he does. Another top win puts him top 3 and then another win could put him top. A pretty tough thing to ask though.

yeah, these are all points to be considered. the reason i was saying this was because if hatton wins, he will have beat the p4p number 1. Like if hatton would have beat mayweather, there could have been no arguments over who was the best p4p. But this time if he beats p4p number 1 its not so clear cut as to wheather hatton would be the best p4p.

It's clear cut to me. If Hatton were to beat Pacquiao, the world's # 1 p4p, at Pacquiao's natural fighting weight... THEN I could see a case for Hatton being considered for the top spot. Other than that, no.

Flawed logic does that mean if ODLH had beat Manny Pacquiao would he have been P4P number 1 ? when Vernon Forrest beat Shane Mosley who was P4P number 1, or when Antonio Tarver beating RJJ who was one of the top P4P fighters.

They got nowhere near the top spot so i don't see why Ricky Hatton should, granted Ricky Hatton has done alot more than those fighters did when they beat the top P4P fighter.

But still no way should Ricky Hatton be P4P number 1, but i do disagree with some people here regarding weight. Manny Pacquiao when he was at the lower weightclasses was only a teenager.

So obviously that isn't his natural weight, as i've said 100's times when i was 16 i was just about 140 pounds, now im 165 pounds at 19. So Manny Pacquiao moving up that much in weight.

Isn't as much as shock as people think i think Manny Pacquiao, has fully grown into his body now. And i feel 135-140 pounds is for certain his natural weight, and probably the most comfortable weight for him at this time.

So if Ricky Hatton beats Manny Pacquiao he does deserve alot of credit, and should be atleast top 6 P4P but no way does he deserve the number 1 spot.

yeah true! so i suppose the only way for hatton to get to number 1 is to beat pacman and then mayweather! not likely ey!

Manny was a boy at 105-108. He's fought for over three years and has had his best, classic fights at 130. Only in his last two fights (David Diaz at 135 and DLH at 147) has Manny ventured outside 130. I see no basis for your claim that 135-140 is his natural weight. That, IMO would only add to Hatton's claim for being # 1 p4p were he to beat Pac at 140. And that's simply not true.

Manny Pacquiao is a fully grown man now, and has added muscle. In such a way where it hasn't effected his speed, so he naturally put the muscle on, has kept all his attributes, which leds me to believe that 135-140 is now his natural weight.

And not only that he is also an improved boxer in the last few years, so i believe Ricky Hatton does deserve alot of credit if he beat Manny Pacquiao, who i believe when he fights Ricky Hatton won't be far from his natural weight.

Titofan im just curious what do you feel Manny Pacquiao's natural weight is then ?

I'm a massive Ricky Hatton fan and I'm always behind him 100% and believe in his ability to be a consistant top level fighter. However I find it hard making a case to call him the best boxer in the world if he were to beat Pac. IMO, the P4P list is rated on the following 4 points:

    1. Who you've beaten
    2. What you've achieved (Titles)
    3. Being successful at numerous weightclasses
    4. All round boxing ability

There are a few fighters who would tick more of those boxes than Ricky to prevent him from ever becoming P4P I'm afraid.
