There were plenty who could beat Corrales and did and the same excuse your giving Oscar for being weight drained also goes for Diego

difference, Corrales even if weight drained, was in his prime, cant say the same for Oscar by any stretch of the imagination, also Corrales went on to prove it true by moving up to Lightweight and showing just how good he was by winning against top tier competition

That makes no logical sense. A fighter, less than two years removed from an amazing performance, coming off wins over fighters who did not damaged him in any way, was thought to be faded and old? Almost nobody felt that way.

I like Kessler, a lot, but he has proven sweet fuck all since the Calzaghe fight.

Non were seen as serious threats to Floyd, for various reasons, Corrales for the weight, Castillo for not having anyting special and also not being undefeated (undefeated means nothing skill wise but he wasnt a unified rising young star like Kessler) and Hattonw as moving up a weight and most felt that hed lose anyway.

Whereas Joe had to prove himself all over again and what I meant by people thinking he was on the slide is that the Lacy fight was probably his last good performance and that Lacy was overrated anyway, whereas Kessler had fought and beaten more world class operators and title holders and done it very well.

Emanuel Steward was gushing over Joe during his commentating of the Kessler bout, would he ever call Floyd a "fighting machine"? Or comemnt on how he "adjusts brilliantly" or even that the two combabtants are probably both 2 of the best boxers around today??

Corrales not a threat? He was 33-0 a P4P ranked fighter and had beaten:
Angel Manfredy
Derrik Gainer
John Brown
Gary St. Clair
and the weight issue? Thats no worse than the rumours Kessler had a broken hand for the Joe fight.

Castillo no threat? A guy on his 5th defense of the WBC title is no threat? A guy that n his career beat:

Hatton no threat cos most thought he'd lose?? Could that be because Floyd is such a good fighter? Hatton no threat cos he had to move up May i remind u that Floyd started his career 10 pound lighter than Ricky and that at the time of their fight Ricky weighed the same? Hatton no threat even tho he'd recently Ko'd Castillo in 3 and had beaten an all time great in Kostya by TKO?

Lee is Stewards own fighter, he has to say that, whereas he has no vested interest in Joe, he was just awestruck at the talent on display in front of him.

To be called a fighting machine by a man who has trained Hearns, Moorer, Holyfield, Oscar and every other named fighter that has tried getting Manny to rescue their career is high praise.

When you look at Floyds career, itr is littered with names but only Two where faced while undefeated, One was draining himself to get down a weight and the other was light at the higher weight

Both Joes undefeated opponents were rising stars, big names, highly touted and favoured to beat Joe, they were established in that weight and strong in it and both were soundly beaten while Joe was well in to his mid Thirties, Hopkins has done very well beating Pavlik but even Pavlik wasnt in his own weight, still a good result that proves what Joe did to him, even now merits a lot of praise and dont forget it would have been a fresher, harder hitting Calzaghe that Bernard would have faced 5 hyears ago, had he not chickened out of that match

He outboxed everyone mate, In the finish I was only left wondering how he would go against someone who took a total war to him,cut him off smashed his arms out the way and walked over him with power, that was the only question I had left.

Although I think Kostya may have taken Floyd to ground at one stage in his prime and done some damage and had a chance with skills if he could slow him like that.

Hatton was the only prime one left to prove it and never even came close, not even once the whole fight so there is one answer for you and maybe its an underlying reason for rubbishing Floyd against another Brit fighter in Calzage..

Who I think hasnt quite the same skill level if they did magically happen to be at the same weight.
Would be interesting and close maybe but not a definate; I'd go 55 % to 45 % in Floyds favour. Same goes for if he met Bernard or Roy at the same weight all in their prime; Roy and him maybe as close as 50 /50 when Roy could match his hand speed to his foot speed with those snappy attacks from beyond the outside with full weight and power on the move, he would have been much harder to read ,adjust to and deal with from within Floyds system than the other two I think.
