You are entitled to your opinions but there is no way in the world that Juan Manuel Marquez knocks out or even beats Cory Spinks at 154 simply no way.

If Spinks met him at 140 I'd side with Marquez, at 147 he might have a chance depending on how draining making weight was for Cory but at 154 lbs there is simply no way.

You say history is littered with little guys moving up weight classes to beat world champs well then just name a few in the last say 30 years who have climbed 5 weight classes including 3 in one go and knocked out a reigning world champ.

To my knowledge Manny is the only guy to have come close. Floyd and Oscar have been the only fighters in recent years able to jump multiple divisions in recent years.

The only other guy I can think of is Roberto Duran. Hearns, is much like Williams in that his frame was so massive he wasnt disadvantaged by the jump in weight.

Marquez however is 5 ft 7, he aint jumping to junior middle and beating even Sergio Mora.

Leonard and Jones Jr also did it

Leonard didn't he won titles from welter to super middle thats 4 divisions. In fact only 3 because his supermiddleweight title was fought at 160, the middleweight limit, dont ask me why.

Jones Jr did and the was the only man in history to achieve that feat and he didn't come close to knocking Ruiz out.

Even the great Roberto Duran didn't he knocked out Barkley at middleweight, that's a climb of 4 divisions.

umm no Leonard won up to the Lightheavyweight title making him the first 5 weight class champion, Hearns the 2nd, and Oscar the 3rd
Leonard beat Lalonde at supermiddle it was a catchweight fight and Leonard weighed in at 167

Jones almost dropped Ruiz in the 6th i believe, wobbled him bad with a straight right

Hearns was massive he wasn't fighting bigger men even at cruiserweight.

Leonard won titles in 4 weight divisions, his light heavyweight title was super middleweight limit.

Toney has won titles from middleweight to cruiser weight a climb of 4 weight divisions.


Plus you are merely higlighting my point. All of these examples are the greatest fighters of modern times and none of them started out as featherweights.

The higher the weight class a fighter starts out at the less important the weight.

But it would take a phenomenal fighter to move up from featherweight to junior middleweight, to my knowledge its never been done before.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, Brit Kid will know what featherweight in the modern era has moved up and won a world title at junior middleweight?

Ok we will have to agree to disagree on this.

In my opinion at 154 lbs this is an easy nights work for Cory, Marquez might even get knocked out. It's the equivalent of Shane Mosely moving up to fight Carl Froch or Lucian Bute. Whilst I think he's a far more acomplished boxer than both of them the sheer size difference would mean he could not beat these strong super middleweights, remember Winky Wright just dropped his hands and let him hit him flush in their fight to demonstrate how his punches couldn't hurt him.

Marquez just would not have the power to hurt Cory. P4P right now he'd obliterate him but in a real fight at 154 he couldnt hurt him any more than big junior middles like Mayorga and Roman Karmazin. Zab Judah was awesome in his prime too. All three of these guys can bang. I won't mention Jermain Taylor as he never hit Cory.

I'm sure even CutMeMick would agree with me on this. It has nothing to do with who is better its just a 3 division leap fighting a fighter in his natural weight class.

Manny was able to do it because Oscar came down and weighed in on the night around 20 lbs lighter than for his previous fights.

Imagine draining your body to weigh 20 lbs less than it does now and then fighting. I guarantee you'd feel fucked! For me that would be dropping down to 8 and a half stone. I weighed that much during my cancer treatment and literally the wind could have bowled me over

Ok but as you said that was at 167 so supermiddleweight, hence 4 weight classes not 5.
