i posted this on another thread but i think it belongs here....
how about this... in 20 years, long after floyd and manny have retired... some of your kids are gonna look back on this and wonder what it was all about.
they'll look at boxrec and see that manny fought 13 times (maybe even 14 times by year's end) between 2006 & 2011... they will find that floyd fought 6 times in that same time.
doing a little more research, they will find that manny hadn't failed one drug test in his career to substantiate the controversy. they will also find that floyd came from a family of drug addicts and wife beating criminals.
they will also discover that manny already had three loses on his record...and with nothing to lose by taking all comers, he fought everyone he could. they will see that floyd held on to that 0 as if his life depended on it.
if floyd beats manny (which i think he would), then floyd would become the superstar boxer that he wishes everyone would recognize him to be. if manny loses...no big deal he fought the best at multiple weights.
they'll see that floyd needed pacquiao to cement his legacy as possibly one of the greats of the modern era. and they'll think he was a chicken for not trying to be the best.
as for pacquiao... he's rich, he's got a life outside boxing(acting, singing, politics, being a national hero, etc...) and he didn't need floyd for squat. he did it on his own.
in the future they'll say mayweather could have been one of the greatest if he had pushed himself. they'll see manny's record breaking run from 106 lbs right up to 147lbs.... who's ever done that?
