Genaro “Chicanito” Hernandez Memorial Fund Contributions Needed

A fund has been set up to help the family of former WBA and WBC super featherweight champion Genaro Hernandez, who passed away on June 6 at only 45 years of age.

Hernandez retained the WBA crown eight times during 1992-1994, before losing a shot at the WBO lightweight title to Oscar De La Hoya in 1995. Three bouts later, “Chicanito” won the WBC 130 lb belt by defeating Azumah Nelson by split decision.

After three successful defenses, Hernandez was toppled by Floyd Mayweather Jr in 1998, retiring afterward at age 32.

Those who wish to contribute can do so by mailing a check or money order to:

Lilian Hernandez
2321 Wall St.
Los Angeles, Calif., 90011

The Hernandez family thanks you.
