Rendall Munroe Targets Another World Title Shot

Rendall Munroe is in line for another world title shot inside the next 12 months.

The Leicester southpaw will be back in action in at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena on Saturday 24th September against a selected opponent.

His non-title ten rounder will be the chief support when Hatton Promotions’ super-featherweight star – Gary Buckland – challenges Gary Sykes for the British title.

Munroe, 31, lost on points in a world title challenge against WBC super-bantamweight champ – Toshiaki Nishioka last October and returned to winning ways beating Andrei Isaeu in April.

Hatton Promotions President Ricky Hatton said: “Rendall is up there with the best in the world and there will be another big fight at the highest level soon.

I would like to see him regain the European title for which he is the mandatory challenger and then I am sure he would get another world title challenge.

Rendall put his trust in Hatton Promotions and I am sure that he will become a world champion even though the 122lb division is so competitive.”

Unbeaten Sheffield boys – Richard Towers and Adam Etches – face Belarusian opponents. Heavyweight Towers is up against Yuri Bihoutseu while light-middleweight Etches boxes Yauheni Abdurazakau.

Deeside’s exciting light-middleweight – Tom Doran, boxes another steel city fighter – Jezz Wilson, over eight rounds.

And the South Yorkshire city’s former Commonwealth light-heavyweight challenger – Billy Boyle, faces Welsh banger – Justyn Hugh.

Manchester’s former amateur star – Tommy Stubbs, makes his pro debut when he faces, tricky Kuwaiti – Anwar Alfaldi, who boxes out of Brendan Ingle’s stable.

Another local fighter Scott Jenkins – who has sold 300 tickets – bids for his second professional win against a selected opponent.
