“Fight 4 Peace” Show Announced October 20 In Kabul

Hamburg based middleweight contender Hamid Rahimi has been working for two years on a project he calls “Fight 4 Peace”: the first ever professional boxing show in his home country Afghanistan.

Now Rahimi finally has the clearance and support not only from the government and president Kasai but also from the international forces (ISAF) and different international NGOs fighting and working for peace in Afghanistan.

The “Fight 4 Peace” will take place on October 20th at Ghazi Stadium in Kabul.

“This is a dream coming true”, says “peace fighter” Rahimi. “I really hope that my project will help people in Afghanistan to overcome war and terror. My country and my people have suffered for almost 40 years.

“I want to give them some hope, bring peace and unify the country. People all over the world only think of war and terror when they hear the name Afghanistan. I hope that in the future they can think of my country as a peace loving nation with internationally recognized events like in all other countries in the world.

“I personally lost my best friend in the war and I had to leave my home when I was a small child. Now I am very happy and proud that I can go back and give something back to the country of my ancestors. Even if this event is only a very small step and a small sign of hope for the people I hope that we can contribute to the enforcement of human rights, peace and freedom.”

To make a political statement, Rahimi is planning to do the show at Ghazi Stadium where the Taliban regime used to execute and torture women. His plan is to have a female boxer from Afghanistan to compete on the undercard of the show as well to support the women’s rights movement.

“Our country needs help and change”, says Rahimi. “Together we can change the world and make it a better place. Hopefully, people will understand and support our project.

“Maybe Afghanistan is only the starting point for a whole series of “Fight 4 Peace” eventy all over the world. Wherever people are suffering from terror and war we should stand up against it and show the people that we care.”

More details on the “Fight 4 Peace” event will follow shortly.
