Quartey - Forrest To Clash On DiBella MSG Boxing Show

By Boxing Press June 12th, 2006 All Press Releases

Fresh off DiBella Entertainment’s Paulie Malignaggi taking on Miguel Cotto for the WBO junior welterweight title at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, DBE will bring another promotion to the World’s Most Famous Arena, this time in the Theater at the Garden, when it presents "Now or Never" featuring Ike Quartey against Vernon "The Viper" Forrest in the main event on Saturday night, August 5.

The collision of two former world welterweight champions will be one of this summer’s marquee fights. Quartey, fighting out of Accra, Ghana, is undefeated in three fights since his comeback from a four-year hiatus. Quartey has posted a stellar career ring record of 37-2-1, with 31 wins coming by way of knockout. He reigned as World Welterweight Champion for over four years, making eight title defenses. His only two losses came in a razor thin controversial split decision loss to Oscar De La Hoya and decision loss to Fernando Vargas. Forrest, from Atlanta, Georgia, has put forth an equally imposing 37-2 career ledger, and has scored 28 KO triumphs, including two victories over Sugar Shane Mosley, one of which came in the Theater at the Garden. His only career losses came at the hands of former World Champion Ricardo Mayorga.

Tickets are priced at $255, $155, $105, $55 and $35, and will be available beginning Saturday, June 10th at the Garden Box Office, through TicketMaster by calling 212-307-7171, and on line at www.ticketmaster.com and www.thegarden.com. Fans presenting a ticket stub from Saturday’s Cotto-Malignaggi fight will receive a 10 percent discount at the Garden box office in an offer valid through June 17.
