Gary Davis added to Impact Boxing Bill

By Boxing Press September 8th, 2006 All Press Releases

English lightweight champion Scott Lawton will be joined by super-bantamweight British Masters and Central Area champion, Gary Davis on Impact Boxing’s 30th September show at the Kings Hall, Stoke. The 24 year-old Liverpool boxer is set to produce fireworks having gone the distance only once in his six previous professional bouts.

Davis won both the British Masters and Central Area belts in February this year when he stopped the more experienced Chris Hooper in the first round and is now ranked at number 8 in the division by both of boxing’s trade magazines. Davis signed with Bristol based promoter, Chris Sanigar, earlier in the year and has been itching to get back in the ring ever since.

Always happy to talk about boxing Davis said:

“I’ve been eager to get back into the ring ever since I beat Hooper but it hasn’t been easy to get me an opponent, because of my record of KO’s a lot of people don’t want to fight me but Chris is doing a good job for me and I know that he will get me the bouts that I want. My immediate target is Marc Callaghan’s English Belt and I know that, given the chance, I would take it off him. In the meantime I just need to keep busy in the ring until I get my title shot.”

“I’m looking forward to boxing in Stoke; I know Scott Lawton pretty well and from what I’ve heard, his Impact Boxing set up is very professional and that they put on some great shows. I don’t know who my opponent will be yet but I can promise my fans and the people in Stoke that they will see another action packed performance from me.”

For Impact Boxing, Potteries promoter Mick Carney said:

“I am delighted to see Gary on one of our shows, he is a very exciting prospect, just the sort of fighter that we like to entertain our local following with. Gary has promised us some fireworks and I am thoroughly looking forward to watching him.”
