Roy Jones Jr Boxing Promotions Signs New TV Deal

Three-time World Champion, Joseph Agbeko, 29-5 (22 KOs) from Accra, Ghana will return to the ring for the first time in over 13 months to square off against Philippines’ Juanito Rubillar, ex-WBC Continental Americas Light Flyweight Champion, 49-22-7 (24 KOs) in the main event of the card called “The Return”, on Saturday May 30 at El Paso Memorial Coliseum in El Paso, Texas.

The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds in the super bantamweight division.

The Agbeko vs. Rubillar battle will be the first of the monthly series in a one year broadcast agreement with LATV Netwoks.

“What better way to showcase local talent than to present it in El Paso,”said Roy Jones Jr., founder of the Roy Jones Jr. Fight Academy and Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions, both located in Las Vegas, NV.

“RJJ intends to bring the excitement and thrill of boxing back to El Paso and what better way to do that than showoff our fighters, hand picked by Roy himself and place them against local talent of El Paso, TX”, stated Keith Veltre, director of Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions.

The undercard will feature talented Hispanic fighters from El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and other international world class boxers, including Montenegro’s Milorad Zizic.

This is the latest expansion for the RJJ juggernaut as they take this promotion company to the next level. The tape delayed boxing shows will be televised monthly on a prime 7:00 PM (PST) Friday night time slot.

Scheduled to air on Friday, June 5, the co-main event will feature Demond Brock from New Orleans, Louisiana, facing Pablo Torres from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, in an eight round super lightweight bout.

Ex-Mediterranean Middleweight Champion Milorad Zizic from Montenegro, will meet Azerbaijan’s Rahman Yusubo in a six round special attraction bout.

Albuquerque’s Archie Ray Marquez faces Colbert Lozoya, from Las Cruces. Fight is scheduled for six rounds in the super lightweight division.

In four round bouts, local Heavyweight Albert Saucedo will fight Ivan Marrufo, making his professional debut. Marrufo hails from Ciudad Juarez,Mexico.

Another local undefeated fighter, Gabriel Gutierrez will face Duwayne Bonds in a Featherweight bout.

Ciudad Juarez outstanding amateur fighter Even Torres, will fight Armando Rivas from El Paso in a Middleweight bout.

Commentators for the Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Series will be multiple Emmy Award Winners for Live Sports Coverage, Fernando Paramo, Rich Marotta and Marcelino Avila.
