Oklahoma Boxing: Tuesday Night Fights Return April 1

Five professional and three amateur bouts are scheduled to carry on the tradition created years ago of great fights being held in Oklahoma City on Tuesday nights. The event April 1, which is the second boxing event being promoted by CatBOX Entertainment at Remington Park, the last one being in November, 2007, once again promises to be before a packed house with plenty of boxing action.

Back to continue his quest for a title shot, popular lightweight Noah Zuhdi (1-0, 1 KO), former starting point guard for Saint Gregory University, is again one of the featured fighters. Zuhdi is coached by former World Lightweight Champion Sean O’Grady and trained by former number one contender Buck Smith. Zuhdi’s last fight at Remington Park in November was a win by an explosive first round knockout over tough veteran fighter Rafael Torres.

Another Oklahoma crowd pleaser on the card is former OKC Blazer Ron Aubrey. 300 pound Aubrey, known to the hockey world as the Enforcer, is a giant of a man who instigated and fought more fights in the rink than any other hockey player. Aubrey lost his last fight in an exciting non-stop, all out brawl and is looking to get back on the winning track when he meets Gary Butler, an experienced fighter coming from Dallas, Texas to fight Aubrey.

The main event features NABC Light-Heavyweight Champion “Gentleman” James Johnson, a fighter from Shreveport, Louisiana, with a professional record of 21 wins and 28 losses. Johnson’s last fight was a win over rugged Martin Verdin. In addition to his current NABC championship, Johnson is the former WBF Light-Heavyweight and IBF Intercontinental Light-Heavyweight Champion.

Also appearing on the card is local favorite welterweight Kyle Sherman (6-1, 4 KOs) who will fight in a four round bout. Undefeated featherweight James DuBois (5-0), traveling to Oklahoma from San Antonio, Texas, is scheduled to box in a four round fight.

Lightweight George Colbert (1-0) from OKC and super-middleweight Tyrell Brown from Fort Gibson, Oklahoma will also be fighting. Other fighters to be announced. The number two ranked amateur in the country, Alex Secoda, from Oklahoma City will also be appearing on the fight card.

Country singer Darla Z will be performing her version of God Bless America before the Main Event. Darla Z has opened in concert for country legend Willie Nelson and has performed live in concert on The Dennis Bono Show at Sam’s Town Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
