Moments ago, Australia's Robbie Peden delighted his home crowd by stopping Nate Campbell in the eighth round, winning the IBF super featherweight title. The two fought once before, with Peden winning by stoppage on that occasion also. However, on this occasion, Peden did not allow Campbell to establish himself and dominate the fight as before, instead, Peden proved his dominance before unleashing a final barrage, prompting the referee to stop the contest. As explained by Peden himself to our own Richard Eberline in the interview preceding this news piece, the win makes Peden a truly viable contender for the biggest names in the sport at his weight such as Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. In other action, Australian fighters Sam Soliman and Shannan Taylor were also victorious. Soliman stopped Miguel Julio in the fourth and Taylor stopped Reuben Diaz in three.
