Bowe to Fight again.

By Boxing Press March 9th, 2005 All Boxing News, Press Releases
Former heavyweight boxing champion Riddick Bowe is tentatively scheduled to fight on March 25, in what would be his second bout since coming back from an eight-year retirement from the ring. The organization that licenses professional boxing in the state said Tuesday

that Bowe's fight against Willie Chapman won't become official until important paperwork is completed. "There's a series of things we've got to go through before we approve that fight,'' said Richard Weinsoft, director of the Pete Suazo Utah Athletic Commission, formerly the Utah Boxing Commission. The 38-year-old Bowe (41-1, 33 knockouts) last fought in September, knocking out Marcus Rhode in the second round. An injury forced Bowe to withdraw from a match in November. Before taking on Rhode, Bowe had not fought since 1996. Many boxing observers figured his boxing career was over when he released from prison May 17 after serving 17 months for kidnapping his first wife and their children in 1998. Bowe became the undisputed heavyweight champ after beating Evander Holyfield in 1992. He lost to Holyfield in 1993.
