Boxing legend and former undisputed light middleweight world champion, Ronald “Winky” Wright, announced the launch of Knockout Entertainment Inc. and its first project Knockout Fight Club, as a division of Winky Promotions.
In an aggressive move to expand the Wright empire, Knockout Entertainment Inc. is a combination of Wright’s talent as a fighter and as a businessman.
This is a joint-venture with former CBS Radio/Clear Channel executive and marketing guru Tony Hammel, whose experience with brands such as WFAN-AM “The Fan” and WAXQ-FM “Classic Q104.3” validated Wright’s decision close the deal.
While Winky Promotions has a traditional approach to talent development, Knockout Entertainment Inc. approaches the sport with a distinctive method.
The Knockout Fight Club series will showcase the talents of prize fighters in a unique setting that appeals to boxing enthusiasts.
Knockout Fight Club blends musical performances with bouts and hosts the events in the trendiest clubs and cities in the country. It is intended to literally take the fight to the fans.
The series begins in New York City with following shows in South Beach, FL and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Wright set out to make the Knockout Fight Club his boldest endeavor to date. He took notes from meetings with high-profile leaders and their secrets to success. Wright recently rubbed elbows with President Barack Obama, whose strategic campaign inspired Wright’s overall business vision.
In following weeks, Wright was commissioned by JetBlue executives as a special guest for the launch of their new route to LAX from JFK. Wright participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony, inaugural flight and exclusive launch party to commemorate the historic moment.
Although, a far cry from the boxing world, JetBlue’s expansion and Barack Obama’s campaign proved to be similar business templates for Wright’s vision for Knockout Entertainment Inc.
“When it comes to business, I want to think big. In order to do that, I had to step back and look at how other successful people were making it” Wright says.
He also adds, “I’m always looking for creative avenues to give opportunities to other talented fighters and I think we hit the mark with Knockout Fight Club. It’s one of the most exciting ways to give exposure to people who have a hard time making a name on their own.”
The first event will be held at M2 UltraLounge in New York City, August 19th. Special guests expected to participate are TV and radio guest host, Showboat of Pulse 87, internationally recognized DJs Frankie Vasquez and DJ Serg along with bouts including Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin.
